Vermicular studies existing magics and their relationships to each other, but his affinity for astrology has trapped him into the role of a seer- constantly asked to read the stars and predict the fate of the clan, while knowing next to nothing about the practice (and somehow being accurate enough to continue). In his free time, Vermicular attempts to develop “dual-element magic”; spells that combine the magic of two elements and can be used by a single dragon, no matter their flight.

Before Vermicular moved to Cordalis, he lived in the Astrolodome and was studying to become a magister at the Oculus of the Eleven. However, he abandoned his dream because his submitted essays (detailing his hypotheses and testing of mixed element magic) were ridiculed, citing “inherent impossibilities”. Crushed, he swore to keep his studies to himself and eventually came to have doubts about his work. This attitude still clouds his judgment, and he has trouble submitting any findings to his fellow scholars with any shred of confidence, no matter how trivial.
