Sit Down Beside Me

______Fort Moonkeep wakes each morning to the drifting scent of breakfast. Creamy oatmeal drizzled with honey, berry preserves spread on thick slices of dark bread, strips of fatty meat slow roasted through the night, and plantain pancakes dripping with butter and sprinkled in cinnamon (the Nightmother’s hatchlinghood favorite) are just some of the ever-rotating selections that greet the early risers when they shuffle to the kitchens at dawn.

Early to bed and early to rise, Friar Prosper is the engine behind the impressive variety and quantity of exceptional homemade food that greets the Fort at every meal, and she spends nearly all of her waking hours tied up in an apron, bustling about her savory-smelling kingdom with hearty cheer and deft hands. A firm believer that a hot mug of rum and lemon will cure most problems and that soup is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, she's committed her culinary skills to bringing comfort to Moonkeep the best way she knows how, and she's mastered staple dishes from every flight in order to please weary travelers from any corner of the globe. Despite her warmth she is not to be trifled with - Prosper is a big personality with a big voice and quite a lot of bulk to throw behind it, and anyone getting in the way of the lunch rush can expect to be unceremoniously bounced from the premises. (And if she can't get the job done, well, her ex-paladin sous chef Dayna certainly will.) On the flip side, the quality of Prosper's hugs is unparalleled.

With mealtime the touchstone of life in Moonkeep, everyone’s business is Prosper’s business. She works closely with not only the Nightmother herself but also the lair’s event planners Chay and Lars, gardeners Del and Honey, and Moonkeep's roster of hunters and gatherers. Her oldest friend and confidant is undoubtedly Amaris, with whom she shares banter and the occasional stiff drink when she’s not chasing him away from the pies cooling on the windowsill.

- has had a couple of nests with Amaris, although they're not mated and have no interest in being so
- Dayna is Prosper's particularly buff sous chef; they get along spectacularly well. Prosper has lots of admiration for Dayna's warrior past and Dayna thinks everyting Prosper makes is art
- Prosper's an Earth dragon but was born in the Light-bordering Shadowlands where the forest begins to brighten and soften; her egg was stolen and sold on the black market before being rescued. The clan she hatched into occasionally got Runners, which is how she learned about the Network.
- She left her adopted clan intending to travel back to Dragonhome in search of her roots, but fell in love with the Defiance on the way. She still might go to the Ancient Lands someday, but it's no longer her priority.
- being Prosper's kitchen assistants/apprentices is one of the jobs adolescent dragons can have in Moonkeep, and Prosper adores their help. At nearly any reasonable time there is a hatchling or two in the kitchens learning to knead dough and several adolescent apprentices running about
