{ Perfumer | He/Him | Gay, Poly } The only son of a world-renowned mage, Jasmine's entire life was planned for him from the moment of his birth. His father began tutoring him at an age considered ridiculous by most, including Jasmine's mother, but despite this, he proved to be precisely the prodigy his father had been hoping for. He excelled in his studies, his mastery of the stars swiftly surpassing even some of his father's colleagues at the Astrolodome. By the time of his coming of age, he was expected to be next in line for Magister of the Starfall Isles. Then he met Hyacinth. The two crossed paths quite by accident, though each will claim that it was fate which brought them together under the glimmering fuchsia lights of the Tourmaline Archives. Jasmine had come on an errand for his father; Hyacinth was studying for his entrance exam into the Coven of the Dawn. Having both been brought up to fill their fathers' shoes, there was an instant camaraderie between them. Unlike Jasmine, however, Hyacinth had never longed to stray from his predetermined path. His father had stressed to him that the Path of the Dawn was one he must choose to take, not one he could be shepherded onto. When he spoke of his work, there was passion in his voice--a passion which Jasmine had never known. Over the coming months, Jasmine maintained close contact with Hyacinth, and it wasn't long before their budding friendship blossomed into a whirlwind romance. With Hyacinth's support, Jasmine at last told his father that magic was not where his heart lay. He wished to tutor under his mother, a perfumer, instead. His mother was delighted; his father, not so much. From that moment on, Jasmine was dead to his father, their estrangement eventually leading to his parents' messy divorce. He blames himself for driving a wedge between them, but his mother assures him that she is perfectly happy and infinitely proud of him for speaking his truth. Eventually, Hyacinth's work called him eastward, to the Sunbeam Ruins, and so Jasmine followed. The pair settled in Feldspar Proper, in a cozy little abode above Jasmine's shop, and never looked back. Jasmine writes to his mother often. He writes to his father as well, though his letters go unanswered. He is saddened that his children have never known their grandfather, but such sorrow rarely dwells in his mind. He and Hyacinth have added a third member to their polycule in Heather, and so his days, as well as those of his little ones, are filled with love and light. code by Diamondbacked |
