Biography

Azazel, The Scapegoat
It was only a dream...

It wasn't supposed to be him. Azazel knew this, deep down. His little sister had been having terrible nightmares for days and then weeks; every night she'd bolt up from her bed in a cold sweat before she started sobbing about a horrible monster that was coming to take her. She said every night the creature in her dream lurked closer and closer to her bed and last night it was standing above her and reaching out, staring at her with vacant eyes and an open mouthed shriek that pierced her very heart. Tonight it would touch her. She was inconsolable and her parents, while worried about their daughters night terrors, found them to be only that.

However, Azazel listened. He was the older brother, the twin, of course, so it was his job to put her mind at ease. "Don't worry, you should sleep with mother and father tonight. If it comes, I'll kill it for you." And so, with childlike innocent, Azazel had convinced his parents that, just for one night, his sister sleep with them. When this was arranged, he slept in her bed, assuming the night would pass without incident.

"The Enyo has called for you."

Azazel's eyes shot open as he stared up with mute terror at the figure above him. It was just as his sister described and yet he couldn't move to fulfill his promise. Instead, the creature's clawed hand reached out and with the softest of movements barely brushed that inky black nail across his heart, leaving a permanent black stain. The beast opened its mouth to scream, maw stretched so wide he felt it could consume the entire bed, and lunged forward, engulfing the hatchling in darkness. He was sure he would die. But instead, he awoke in a foggy town that he'd never seen before, surrounded by dragons with varying expressions and silence.

"Our mother has called you Home, Little One."
