Journal Intro

Hi Journal!

Let me introduce myself, the name is Faylie! You can call me Fay, though, we’re friends now. I just bought you at the market I stopped by in a cute little town. I figured, if I’m going to continue doing journies to make the world a prettier place that I should start documenting it!

Let’s start back from the beginning so we have a decent introduction and understanding of each other, shall we?

I was raised in the village of Iirendell. Noticed how I said raised and not born? I’m not entirely sure where I was born or who my parents even are. You see, I’m an orphan and if anything, that’s a bit weird for a Halfling. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I was raised by a wonderful older Halfling, Anni. She told me that she just opened the bright and sunny morning and there I was! Right on her porch. But as I said, a bit weird for a Halfling to be an orphan since we lot generally pride ourselves in our clan! Though Anni welcomed me to her clan, Fenwyn, I never really felt at home.

Growing up, many of the other Halfling kids would pick on me because I was an outsider in many ways. My yellow hair stood out, I didn’t have an actual clan, and I was just weird to them, I guess. It was tough, I wanted ever so badly to fit in but I just couldn’t no matter what I did. I stuck with Anni every chance I could but she was a busy lady!

Let me tell ya, she was one of the few nurses in town and since Halflings are known to be a bit carefree and mischievous, she had many patients. Added to her being so busy, she was getting so old that at the end of her shift she just did not have the energy to hang out with me as much. It was really heartbreaking because she was one of the few I could really trust in. So, one day I asked her if I could assist with her job. She wasn’t sure as she thought I was just too young to be spending time couped up inside working instead of playing, yet, at the same time, she knew that is what would be best for me.

Man, Journal, the things she could do and the things she taught me! She was so giving and helpful, I just admire her so much! She is very much a huge inspiration as to who I am today. I miss her tons. Oh, right, sidetracking, let’s get back to where I was.

Since Anni couldn’t spend as much time with me as a child, I would spend my free time roaming nature and learning about the various plants and animal life near by. That’s how I met my wonderful wombat companion, Periwinkle! I found him in a field of Periwinkles as a Joey! Like me, he was abandoned and alone. We became quick friends and have been inseparable since!

I spent the next decade or so learning various nursing tricks and assisting Anni whenever I could, Periwinkle would also help out, he’d carry the heavier medical supplies and help transport people if we ran out of wheelchairs.

Many people started to warm up to me but there were still some that kept me at a distance. No one would explain to me why, they just did. It was really sad but at the same time, I was always willing to help them when they were hurt. Anni taught me to be a good person to everyone because no one truly deserved anything less.

Unfortunately, as the years went by, Anni had to retire from being a nurse because she was just getting so tired and so weak. I started to return the care and love she gave me back. She was truly wonderful and I wish you could meet her, journal. She passed away in her sleep when I was just 20 years old. I’m glad it was peacefully.

I spent another half a decade in Iirendell but I just never felt like I belonged there. Many people accepted me, especially after Anni’s death but I still just didn’t feel right being there. I think she knew that because she left me her medical kit, staff, a loving note about how much she cherished me and how she wished her time with me was longer, and that she wants me to share my heart with the world.

I started traveling at the age of 25 and have now been doing this for almost 5 years now! I’ve met many people, most were kind, some were just down right mean. One even tried to eat me! The world can be dangerous, that’s for sure, but there is so much beauty and love in it that I must continue and do things for Anni. Her memory needs to leave on outside of the village, her love needs to spread and bring joy like it did for me.

So, that’s the jist of my background story! I’m sure I can go into more but hey, we just met and I only have so much down time. I need to get moving before the sun sets!

Until next time!
