“Nice,” said Suneye, a little pointedly.
Juliet shifted from foot to foot, and looked at Driftwood for help. “Very nice?” she tried.
“I suppose it is nice,” mused Driftwood, clearly laughing at her, “This cave that we spent weeks digging out and lining and furnishing, it’s very nice.”
Juliet miserably shuffled a little further out of Suneye and Driftwood’s new room. Her own size and sudden shyness with her oldest friends frightened her. She hadn’t really spent any time with them since they had moved out of the nursery and started working on making their own shared space, now they were grown and didn’t have to stay with Grandfather or Footprint. Juliet, who was still frequently struck by fits of horrible growing pains that had her curled up and crying while her bones almost visibly lengthened, was not left alone by either of the older dragons for long.
“I mean…” said Juliet, “It’s just…isn’t it a little large?” And indeed the room dwarfed both smaller dragons.
“Of course it’s large,” said Suneye, as Driftwood gave up and collapsed against Juliet’s side, openly cackling, “It’s got to fit you in it.”
