S H I R O



______ The bloodred spiral female sprawled lazily in a jungle tree, flicking her tail back and forth to swat away the summer flies. She watched the travelers passing on the dusty path below her like every other day, and with each passing dragon, the hunger within her began to wake just a little bit more. The sun rose high in the sky and the forest hummed with heat and energy, insects buzzing more intensely around her head, but the spiral did not show the slightest interest in them. Her eyes, which had been partly closed with sleep were now wide open, fixed intently on the ground below her.

Snapper, her favorite.

With a deft, snake-like movement, the spiral slithered to the ground and blinked her eyes greedily at the startled Snapper male in front of her. No verbal communication was needed for the snapper to understand that he would not escape this encounter alive, and his eyes darted around the jungle surrounding him, looking for any chance of escape. The female spiral let out a small laugh as the snapper realized in horror that there was no way out of the jungle except to pass the spiral in front of him. "P-please," he stammered, "I don't want any t-trouble..." The spiral smiled a wicked grin in return as saliva began to drip from her fangs. In a second she lunged at her prey, sinking her teeth into his jugular in one quick motion. She sucked the still-warm blood from his veins, feeling it's energy course through her and her nostrils flared with hunger. And as she drank, her bloodred scales gleamed just a little brighter....

(I just really like the idea of her as a crazy vampire dragon).
