”The legend tells...”

“As the world lay in ruin without the gods, two groups of dragons formed.. One, to create peace, and those forever doomed to roam in shadow, with anger and vengeance burning in their hearts...”
“Let me take you through a tale of time, telling the story of lost hope, of tragedy, of vengeance, of dragons with only the light of the moon to guide them..."

"Once upon a time, as all stories begin, a wildclaw and a skydancer once sought to discover the mysteries of the divine. The two were close companions, with a shared love for adventure. One, the wildclaw, Indigo, was kind, quiet, and thoughtful. The other, the skydancer, Vesilda, was ambitious, adventurous, and ready. With hearts full of bliss they wandered. Adventured. Discovered. Remembered, for those that couldn’t. The world was still bathed in beams of sunlight back then. As their venture progressed, the two discovered more and more ruins, uncovering more and more secrets from the past, secrets the gods didn't want any being to uncover..."
"The skydancer was struck down, killed by the gods' wraith as her claws lifted a particularly dark and old tablet with unreadable, withered inscriptions. The tablet shattered as it hit the ground, releasing forbidden magic into the world that clouded out the sun, but brought out the moon. New stars glistened in the sky, and an eerie silence enveloped the lands."
"The wildclaw had made a run for it- rushing back to civilization to escape and inform anybody he could of the news. The skydancer, however, was met with darkness, and a throbbing pain in her chest, but also an offer. Bring chaos, unrest, and doubt to these lands, remove the gods from their polished thrones, and be granted eternal life. Fail, and be trapped here. She would have been a fool not to take the offer— she would not want to be trapped in this void forever, and so, she accepted. It was vague, sure, but whoever had proposed this offer would guide her, she was somehow certain of it.”
"Surprisingly, despite the darkness, plants would still grow,, and dragons would still be able to sustain themselves, although it proved to be much more of a difficult task than before. It was a curse upon the sky and the lands, sure, but it was not intended to devastate, only hinder. It was a warning, not complete destruction.”
"It took time, but the two sides were formed— with the wildclaw doing what he could to help any dragon he came across, and the skydancer, using her cunning nature to recruit people to her cause of chaos, and to turn them against the divine."
"Many of the gods stopped being active. Many suspected an internal divide, or that they had just stopped caring about the mortals below; their fellow dragons. Vesilda had been told that it had been a difficult internal divide; where most had turned against each other, with no clear side nor a soon end to the conflict. The skydancer used the rumors to her advantage to recruit more dragons to her cause. Even if the gods had abandoned them anyways, it was still cause to take action."
"Those who didn't join one of the two groups either formed their own, or slowly died off. There was little to no rule for those who wandered, some forming small groups who were together just to survive. One of these groups rose to prominence, a group of troublemakers who called themselves the Night Drifters. They traveled the seas, fighting to survive, and get some enjoyment out of it, too."
"This group of pirates notably had no view on the gods, despite the captain of this group being descended from them."
"As resources grew more and more scarce, and farms more empty as winter approached, many dragons resorted to staging attacks against others to get what they needed, the Night Drifters being one of these groups. To thwart off the danger of a potential attack, the skydancer offered this group a deal. She would pay them in food and resources, if they would defend them and recruit whoever they could. The Night Drifters accepted, with some reluctance, though refused to get close to the skydancer or any of her group."
