Biography

Born in the Southern Icefields, Ceph has long had a fascination with the non-draconic life around him. He spent much of his youth observing his local plants and animals, and getting to know the nearby beastclans. To aid in recalling his observations, Ceph began a journal, documenting them all.

He found the neighbouring longnecks became much friendlier when he could reliably remember their names. He noted that in his journal.

Driven by curiosity, Ceph ventured forth from his home in the Southern Icefields, to see more of Sornieth’s diverse flora and fauna, and to meet more of the many beastclans. As he circled the Sea of a Thousand Currents, from the Windswept Plateau to the Sunbeam Ruins, across to the Viridian Labyrinth, then Dragomhome, Ceph’s journals rapidly multiplied.

Eventually, he came to the Crystalspine Reaches. There, he met Lizbet, who smelt of old books, dust, and guardian. She was fascinated by his journals, and praised his attention to detail, and the diverse areas they covered. She asked if she could make copies for her library. Flattered, Ceph agreed.

As Lizbet, and an ink-scented imperial named Abjad began making copies of his journals, Ceph moved into Ariel’s Castle.

Within a week of living in the Castle, Ceph had befriended most familiars who lived there. The dragons, however, took a little longer.

The first dragon he befriended was Beguile, who smelt of linen and nocturne. They met while Ceph was playing with a blooming strangler. He and the familiar had just returned to the Castle after a walk down the mountain, on which he met Spectre, who smelt of sea salt and wildclaw. Beguile suggested Spectre was not actually a dragon, but some sort of spirit, or ghost. Ceph was strongly of the opinion that if he smelt like a dragon, he was a dragon.

As they talked, the blooming strangler grew restless, and began demanding Beguile’s attention. It wriggled around, and butted its head against his fore claws. Beguile cooed, and began to gently stroke it. Ceph was immediately endeared. He and Beguile became close friends.
