FERONA // THE ENLIGHTENED'S BLOODYGUARD // THE CLAWS THAT SLICE

Ferona had a relatively peaceful childhood. Raised in an assassin's guild masquerading as a pacifist shaman clan, she enjoyed quite the robust upbringing. Mondays were sparring, Tuesdays were textbook readings, Wednesdays were weapons training, Thursdays were hand-to-hand combat, Fridays were death hunts, and Saturdays were off.

By the time she was ten years old, she had a body count ten times her age. By fifteen, triple. She was quickly climbing ranks, and was on her way to becoming head assassin by the time she was twenty. She was praised by black market mercenaries everywhere as being the most quick-witted, sharp, and intelligent. Not to mention, quite pretty. Not stunning, but pretty.

She used her small stature to her advantage. Foes often underestimated her. But one day, her life turned upside down when a flock of harpies kidnapped her during her daily krav maga in the forest. She flailed and screeched, but it was too late. She was too far gone for her clan to hear.

The harpies flew for a long time, until they arrived at a seemingly secluded beach shrouded in fog. By this time Ferona was weak and dizzy. She hadn't had food in three days. They deposited her on a cliff and began pecking at her already bloody-looking markings.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a ferocious and heavily muscled mirror tore out the throat of the first harpy. His muscled rippled as he took down her captors, one by one, until it was just her left. Then, they engaged in a fight.

Ferona matched him blow by blow. All her training paid off, but she wasn't as good as she used to be due to her intense fatigue. She finally one-upped him and send him spiraling off of the cliff. Finally, she could rest.

Three days later, the mirror was back, and dragged her by the leg to his master. The cold gaze of Anisian still send shudders through her when she recalled it. Here was a true killer, devoid of compassion or emotion. He praised her and told her he would spare her life, in exchange for her service to him indefinitely. She accepted.

She returned to the mirror. He stared at her with a dopey grin on his face. She cuffed him with her wing. And so began the friendship of Insipid and Ferona.
