Haema Subclan
Evanel was born in the heart of a large, mainstream clan on the edges of the Scarred Wasteland. She was raised in a place that was full of culture and wealth and civility, surrounded by dragons from all different walks of life, a cauldron of many flights working cooperatively in the same clan. She was sheltered and given everything she wanted. But she had to grow up eventually. There was an attack on her clan, her father, a captain in the guard, was slain in battle, her mother a victim of an explosion in their home. Evanel was on the edges of the clan when the attack started, she fled to safety until the violence stopped, but there was nothing to return to. The clan was raided and ransacked, survivors few and wounded. Not capable of helping any of them, and grieving her own losses, Evanel left her home and tried to make it on her own. Her first instinct was to leave the Wasteland, but she never made it out. The imperial had never lived in the wilds on her own, never relied on her own skills to find food. She had the advantage of size and natural immunity to the more common pestilence in the Wasteland, but her skills did not involve survival or fighting. Her appearance also made it difficult for her to remain unnoticed in the wilds, so she had to resort to covering her scales in leaves and muck. After nearly six weeks on her own, she stumbled across the Blood-Baring clan on accident. Or rather, they stumbled on her late one night while she was hunting a satin mouse, a morsel that would barely feed her for the night. Used to seeing dragons produced by the savage side of the Wasteland, the Blood-Baring dragons hesitated in ending her life to protect their territory, and instead, took her into their folds. She was fortunate to be rescued, she wouldn't have survived for much longer on her own, emaciated and constantly fatigued from sleeping with no protection. But unfortunately for her, she was saved by dragons from the Haema subclan. Upon joining the ranks of the subclan, Evanel's beautiful, flawless scales, once coveted by hundreds, were corrupted, manifesting in bloody opalescence. Before her conversion, she might have been upset, but her new life allowed her to embrace the corruption to its fullest. She still enjoys beautiful things, their rarity in the area only making them more valuable to her. She will protect her beautiful things to the death because her vanity was such a strong part of who she was that it transcended her lifestyle changes and followed her into this new life. |
