Last night I strolled through a heavenly forest. A real locus amoenus, I could say. The whole scenery didn't look like my homeland at all, but it still reminded me on colorful vignettes of my childhood. You know, like in a dream. It is completely absurd and, yet, everything makes perfect sense although you cannot comprehend the invisible logic that moves the mechanism.

And I wondered, why would you build a bridge at the end of nowhere, where aureoles of the streetlights suddenly fade into velvety darkness? Nothing's there, on the dense and lush side of the river. Why would anyone desire to step on the other side? And, still, the bridge was still there, proudly showing his magnificent backbone to the skies, defeating the laws of logic and purpose. It's existence piqued my interest and I often found myself crossing on the other side.

One night I found something that I wasn't supposed to find, a tall and slender cathedral bathing in the ethereal cascades that razed its collapsed roof. Vines, fern and shrubbery pierced its alabaster ribs. Remains of tranquil and somnolent statues, wreathed of marmoreal cobweb, observed their reflections in a glazy and motionless, pond that formed at the center of the monumental building, after its roofing crashed.

We met there. I didn't notice. It took a while before I started feeling uneasy around mirrors, before I could comprehend the unreadable eyes that observed me from the other side of reflection. I was afraid of him, because it felt natural and it made sense.

But I'm not anymore. Tonight I'll kneel beside the artificial waterfalls and whisper silent pledges to the frail creature observing me from the other side of the reflection.

And I'll carelessly claim that I'm ready to shatter the whole world, like a fragile, shivery glass ball. The creature will wordlessly wonder who is the most terrifying beast in the chamber.
