Candles flicker as they float around you, surrounding you, their sickly sweet scent masking all else. You try to take a step back, but their flames hold you in place as the dragon in front of you opens their mouth and hisses out words in an ethereal voice. "The stories were wrong... there was no beginning. But there will be an end." With those words spoken, the candles return to their master, revealing a bloodred bogsneak watching you through crimson eyes.
"Um..." You look around the darkened room warily, noting the meticulousness organization and the complete lack of dust or speck of dirt. "I, I just came here because my friend Mahvo said you were good at accounting and - er - s-stuff..." You trail off as you notice the terrifying bird-thing that has landed upon the other dragons shoulder. For a long, agonizing moment neither of them move nor speak. Then, suddenly, the dragon inclines their head, "This is true." They agree, "I am very well-versed in the measurement, processing, and communication of financial information about economic entities as well as the safekeeping and insurance of common monetized objects." You scratch your head, half wishing they would go back to speaking dire omens, those made more sense than whatever they just said. Your confusion must have shown, because the dragon allows a small smile (meant to be comforting but honestly rather terrifying) and simply asks "What is it that you would like me to do?" Leaving the cave, you feel a weight fall off your shoulders. Sweetcoin's advice and educated tips will be sure to get your mate off your back about the clan's finances. You sigh happily, and wave goodbye to Mahvo as leave the Windswept Crossing behind. However, as you make your way down the mountain you remember what Sweetcoin told you when you entered their domain. But there will be an end. The words make you shiver and wrap your shawl tighter around your shoulders, what could it mean? |
| The dragons of the crossing don't really remember when Sweetcoin joined them, nor do they remember exactly how. All they do remember is that the bird came first, as if to herald their arrival, and that they are very glad to have them. They eat little, make no mess, and have a knack for accumulating money for the clan. All in all, they are just as much a member of the clan as any other dragon, even if some wonder if they are really a dragon at all. |
