Say money, or gold, or even shiny, and Hypatia is there. Instantly. In Al's opinion, Hypatia's single-minded dedication to hoarding and managing money makes her a perfect treasurer. In everyone else's opinion, she is a terrifying, money-grubbing witch (and half of them owe her treasure). Alas, a dragon clan is not a democracy, so Hypatia gets the final word on all matters pertaining to the clan's finances. Hypatia is also the undisputed leader of coliseum battles, gouging out her place through strength, ingenuity and sheer stubbornness. She's moulded the clan's combatants into a well-oiled machine, giving them the crucial task of steadily increasing the clan's wealth.

There's no denying that Hypatia is a hard dragon to get along with. She is abrasive and short-tempered at the best of times, and hates obligatory social niceties with a passion. However, none of these things detract from her unwavering loyalty and dedication to the clan and its well-being. She abhors deceit and will never give you anything less than the full honest truth, and is absolutely relentless in all aspects of life. Hypatia can be relied on to unflinchingly make the most difficult decisions, which is what ultimately gained her the trust and respect of the entire clan.

There was a bit of a tragedy in Hypatia's past that she doesn't talk about (something to do with a mechanical Coatl). She's mostly over it, though out of courtesy those who remember it (just Rajni) won't speak of it either. The money thing probably stemmed from her lean childhood - normal for a Plague Wildclaw who was the oldest of her clutch - though Hypatia adamantly denies anything of the sort. She is also the youngest of the clan elders, but despite her age she is the most vocal at elder meetings and probably one of the most influential clan members.

Feared by most and respected by all, Hypatia doesn't make friends easily. She's always been close with Rajni and defers to Al, but she's generally more interested in affluence than affection, and despairs at the other elders' flippant approach to money. For Hypatia, mating is a business transaction, and though she does care for them hatchlings are considered another display of wealth. She does owe a debt to Garter for saving her life, but everyone who's in the loop knows that's something you never mention. 		YJca6UZ.png
