Meriel is as old as Cyraeneus, however she certainly doesn't act it. Meriel loves the colors and loudness of the reef, and frequently the young mer youngsters will seek her out to ride on her back through the current.

She is a good singer, and sometimes joins the pods of whales that move through the warm waters, joining in their song and seeing them safely across the expanse of the trench. Loved by all, Meriel is the heart of the Shoalers, though tries to stay away from the politics of the royals. She bonded with Kaia as she saw the young mer needed a family, and she couldn't imagine her life without the adventurous mer.

Meriel is one of the most colorful dragons in the reef, and her playful appearance can be misleading, but don't be mistaken- Meriel is experienced in battle, and just as powerful as Cyraeneus.

Kaia was an orphan in the communal nursery, her parents lost to the trench and the beasts that lurk within. To everyone's surprise, as a young child she bonded with Meriel, the large Undertide dragon taking her under wing. Together they are a duo of mischief and joy, entertaining the young ones with song and always searching out new companions.

Kaia is also an accomplished hunter, though finds that she is often looked down upon for being younger and without a family name. The King has tried multiple times to marry her off to another mer noble in order to bring her into court, but Kaia refuses each one.

Together with Meriel, they are a formidable team. Kaia is curious about the Trenchers, and her adventurous spirit finds itself trailing closer and closer to edge of the reef.
