Hati

The Reef could be a difficult place for any hatchling, but for a Ridgeback, every corner of the place felt treacherous. Then without a name, the young drake clung to a chunk of the shore like his life depended on it. His claws slipped on the salty rocks every so often. When the waves drew close and the spray hit his scales, a weak hiss was all he could fight back with.

Footsteps hit the rocks behind him. He dared to crane his neck around to look. Their faces were unfamiliar - one held a pick, the other slung a bag over their shoulder. As they stepped over the abandoned egg shells and bedding towards him, they cooed and held their faces low to not scare him off. He risked one of his grabbers to reach out for help from the strangers.

Hati wouldn’t forget his unlikely rescue, nor would he turn his back on his rescuers. Should one of them ever be in the same peril, he would be there to return the favor. Although he is unadventurous and claims to dislike danger, he will be the first to step in when things seem dicey. One can trust he won’t leave a friend’s side even if it means he has to get his claws dirty. Hati uses all weapons available to him in order to fend off threats. He wouldn’t take a soak in any depth to save his life, but his water magic can be vicious. Scalding steam and jets that sting as sharp as his spines make him a formidable foe.

He is of a guarded, but calm disposition. He tends to be reserved. He feels the strongest towards his smaller clanmates even if he doesn’t realize it; he feels on edge taking tiny Fae out on excursions, for example. Sometimes Hati doesn’t even trust that the strongest members of his clan can take care of themselves, but he’s not hard to shove off when he oversteps his boundaries. He’s a little flustered by his outbursts of over-caring.
