Not all paladins find themselves at the center of pitched battles. Some prefer the outskirts, leaving the glory to their fellows as they do what must be done, bloody consequences be damned. And still others do not enter battle at all, preferring to use their violent talents to other ends.
Ronen has always been something of the latter sort. A born drifter, he came to the Luminaries by chance, mistaken for an enemy until his general ignorance of the matters at hand proved him nothing more than an innocent. An innocent with quiet charm, though, and a gift for music born from strings. Once confirmed as a guest rather than a prisoner, Ronen awed the Luminaries with his musical talent, playing not one, not two, but three meals. Not a single song was repeated, and not a single dragon was immune to the melody of it all.
And that is how he serves the Luminaries still. A lone musician does not survive the road without hidden talents, and Ronen is a capable fighter at range, relying on the skill of a born archer to aid him when the situation calls for it. He would much rather approach things peacefully, but an opportunity is an opportunity, and he is not known to let a good chance pass him by.
At present, he does not fight often. Hunting is his primary duty outside of combat, and there is a certain satisfaction to providing for the Luminaries this way. He is able to wander the Sunbeam Ruins at his leisure, so long as he returns with game at the end of the day.
When they require his services, though, he will tend to his bows, the weapon and the instrument alike. With his music, he will earn the enemy's good will. They will welcome him into their midst, and they will find joy in his talent.
And while they sleep, he will do what damage he must, in the quiet, in the dark.
Crickets are not traditionally thought much of. Musical are they, perhaps even lucky, but not especially dangerous. But Ronen likes his title all the more for it; who ever suspects the meager insect in great machinations?
