Sanguine is like most his plague brothers and sisters, cast out to fight the disease within and was left to die. He awoke horrified to find himself among a mixed cast of dragons in a lush and growing garden. When approached by Aellundras, the massive guardian asked, "Do you know why the wings on a butterfly are so bright? It is a warning to others...devour me and you will die." And so the young Tundra was made welcome with the understanding that even he has a place here.

Everyone remarked on how beautiful the dragon's red eyes were, so he was named for that reason. Sanguine spends most of his time under the garden to keep cool, digging canals for irrigation. He ingests diseased plants to keep them from spreading to the rest of the garden, making himself stronger in the process. He also has a rather impressive fungus garden.
