“Young hatchling, you’d best not touch that pie!” Scordatura said, her back to the window where her pies were cooling. She heard the guilty sound of claws on stone, scraping back and forth as the hatchling backed away from the pie he so desperately wanted. “You come in here this instant.”

It wasn’t like her to be so harsh, she knew, and the hatchling was sure he must have done something absolutely horrible to deserve such treatment. Scordatura never snapped or was stern with them, after all.

“Young hatchling.” Scordatura peered down at him past her Ridgeback nose. “Those pies have only been cooling for a moment, and if you’d touched it you would have burnt yourself. Now, if you would like a piece of pie, you must ask nicely, and you must have one that’s already cooled. Agreed?”

The relief on the hatchling’s face was instant. “May I please have a piece of pie?” he asked, barely containing his excitement.

“Of course you may,” Scordatura said, finally letting a grin sweep her face - a classic look for a Ridgeback. “A small one! So you don’t spoil your delicious dinner.” She gestured to the pot that was already over the fire, an aromatic smell escaping the lid.

Scordatura is a chef, known across the Starfall Isles for her delicious Starbread - a heavenly, almost celestial treat that she only bakes on special occasions. For her everyday meals, Scordatura is known for using what is readily available so that she doesn’t strain the larder too much - she uses easy-to-gather ingredients, and makes sure to cater to all the myriad of tastes and diets within her clan. Some say she pours magic into her meals to make them so good - Scordatura insists the only “extra ingredient” is love. She truly believes that feeding the dragons she cares about is her life’s calling.

Scordatura teaches a weekly class to hatchlings and culinary-challenged dragons on basic cooking techniques, as well as teaching the gatherers which ingredients are most useful and which can be left behind. No one, after all, wants to accidentally gather poisonous berries.

Scordatura is a sweet Ridgeback who one day hopes to have hatchlings of her own. In the meantime, she busies herself with spoiling the clan’s hatchlings with treats, sweets, and affection. She typically keeps all manner of sweets ready for any hatchlings that come by, and makes sure to deliver them regularly to the other members of the clan as well - especially new parents or those going through a hard time.

Occasionally, Scordatura will go out gathering as well, and when she does, she always seems to come back with the absolute rarest ingredients. She never admits where she gets them, instead choosing to smile and put a claw at the tip of her nose, a gesture that indicates a secret shared between two dragons. Some say she simply barters for them, but others say that only a true magical chef would know where to get what Scordatura is able to get - Scordatura simply calls herself lucky, for she is wealthy not in treasure, but in the dragons she surrounds herself with.
