On the night of the winter equinox, a legend arose.
As the sun began to set, the pillar mountains casting long, ominous shadows, A dark robed nine-tailed kitsune arrived. Their face was covered, only glints of white and red could be seen through their dark clothing. The villagers felt as though something was coming, they were wary.
The kitsune payed no mind to the wary villagers and perched himself atop the highest of their roofs, gazing at the setting sun just beyond the mountains. He was waiting.

As the sun went out of sight and the moon rose a terrible bloodred, a monstrous cry rang out from behind the mountains, the roar of a surprised dragon interlaced with it. A fight had begun, the scouting guardian of the village had been attacked.
The kitsune rose up, spreading it's impressive wings, and took flight. This was what it was waiting for.

Tales of the battle vary, all are quite grand, the monster always hideous, but only the kitsune would know what really happened that night.
They returned with the guardian, knocked out and badly injured, draped across their back. They made their way purposefully to the healers hut and gently set the guardian down on a bed.
The kitsune stayed and watched the healer tend to the guardians wounds before leaving just as quietly as they came, the moon shining silver once again as it fell out of sight making room for the sun...
