!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Description!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayland is a lean but strong skydancer originating from the Scarred Wasteland. The striking gold accents of his fur and feathers stand out from the blues and purples of his home in the Tangled Wood. Wayland is also skilled at handling tough situation, and tough people for that matter, due to his upbringing in an oppressive environment where no one would change their minds on anything. He can come off as grumpy or blunt to strangers, but once a dragon gets to know him, they find he has a sort of “disgruntled charm” to him. He may say things in a blunt manner, but he’s not mean or rude about it. He speaks his mind and opinions, and never tries to hurt anyone’s feelings, although he doesn’t want to admit that he does care.

!!!!!!Wayland’s job other than founder is doing blacksmithing in his home, buried in the knots of the Foxfire Bramble. He single-handedly dug out an enclosure within the brambles for artisans of his clan to gather in and have their workshops be protected from raiding beastclan. He also built a grand forge in the middle of the new town for his own practice. He’s relentless at bettering his blacksmithing skills, and can be found working most of the day. While he likes to act like he doesn’t care about people, he does actually like being around others, so he surrounds himself with other artisans as company. He will go around the grand forge to look over others’ work, and give constructive criticism to them, which is found helpful by the other metalworkers of the Foxfire Forge.

!!!!!!As one of the founders, Wayland has taken pride in seeing how the clan has grown. He’s the overseer of the Foxfire Forge, while the other 4 founders are scattered across the other settlements. He loves seeing all the craftsmanship of the artisans that gather in his bramble-walled village, and has the utmost respect for all their individual crafts and outcomes. Wayland is a sort of patriarch figure in his settlement, checking up on all the workshops individually every so often to make sure everything is going smoothly. While he can be seen as grumpy, he’s very understanding and makes sure every dragon new to the Foxfire Forge feels at home and like they have worth in the community.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Backstory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a hatchling, Wayland grew up in the Rotrock Rim, the churning Wyrmwound deep within the platform right above his home clan’s lair. The clan Wayland grew up in was very loyal to the Plaguebringer, and formed a cult to worship her. Wayland, surrounded by worshippers of the plague mother, picked up on the worshipping and thought it was normal, since that’s all he had been exposed to. Every few months, the sun aligned to the Wyrmwound just right to make it boil and churn more than normal, a restless pot of pure, liquified disease. Whenever this happened, the plague mother cult gathered atop the mouth of the crater and would present dragons to be thrown into the pot of sticky, fowl smelling sap. The dragons of the cult considered this the highest honour, and thought that Plaguebringer would lift them from the soup herself to serve her for the rest of eternity.

!!!!!!As Wayland matured, he found that he had an innate aptitude for blacksmithing. He practiced metalworking with most of his time once he found out about his gift, determined to be the best blacksmith in the land. In his quest to practice continuously, he found he could sell his creations to other dragons, and buy more metal to work with. This lead him to have contact with the outside world through marketing his products. He realised the cultish behaviour of his home clan was not normal, and there was so much more information that he didn’t have access to in the environment he was in. He decided to escape from his home clan, packing up all the materials he had and setting off into the great beyond to learn more about the world beyond the barren boneyards of the Scarred Wasteland.

!!!!!!Wayland flew east as far as he could before fatigue started to take hold of him, and he had to land. When he did, he found himself in a new region, which was a relief to him. The grass was a deep purple and the trees indigo and blue. There were small glowing fungi growing from the ground and thorned vines wrapped around the trunks of the tall pines. He wandered awhile until finding himself in a thicket of overgrown, glowing fungi and the pines native to the land. It seemed like the best place for him to rest, so he explored it for a bit for any sufficient shelter he could take while resting. While exploring, he came across a lone, blue and purple coatl, the first dragon he had encountered since leaving. He cautiously went up to the stranger, who greeted him warmly.

!!!!!!Wayland introduced himself to the coatl, who in turn introduced herself as Esmee. He told Esmee of his journey to escape the oppressive cult of Plaguebringer, and how he was seeking more knowledge on the outside world. Esmee was very understanding, and offered to start a clan with him of their own, where there would be no oppressive religion or suppression of knowledge. He agreed after considering the offer for awhile, and they made a rudimentary shelter together to spend the night in. After resting up, their first course of action was collecting food, then after eating creating a bigger and more stable hovel to reside in. Soon after, the two were approached by a wise indigo coatl named Iolai, who claimed to be a clairvoyant, and a strong looking imperial named Malik. They grew their clan as the 4 founders, creating a welcoming community for runaways and wanderers.
