Ezil was a young thief on the run from the Exalted wardens when he encountered the Volmark raiders. He found a home with them, avoiding the prisons of his homeland since coastal raiding clans were generally ignored as they mainly harried other Flights. He quickly rose through the ranks of his newfound clan and gained an appreciation for the finer things in life, as well as a desire for more. He met Tristyn among the Volmark dragons, and the two struck up a relationship. With the help of the helmsman Elhokar he was eventually able to claim leadership and propelled his clan into a new age of shoreline raiding, more savage than before. On his raids he met Radiance - the poisoner quickly caught his eye and was among the 'treasures' taken that voyage. He found the egg his adoptive daughter Rhyse hatched from in the ruins of a small settlement they had razed, and he decided to raise the hatchling as his own. With the help of his consorts and clanmates, she's become a talented leader and his own successor. He's still a charismatic leader in his own right, hardly hampered at all by his injuries or lack of close following, and tends to scheme... "Former Lord of Clan Volmark, Ezil has ceded the title to his adopted daughter Lady Rhyse after a devastating loss in trial by combat for leadership. He knows she cheated, and is mad at himself for allowing her to win because she didn't even bother to cheat subtly. He's still proud of her, though, even if he does think allying with an inland clan is a terrible idea. He's a member of Khione's council, for better or worse. He enjoys a relatively comfortable position, although his lifestyle of opulence has certainly diminished since he ceded leadership."
