Chalous was born into a spiritual family, where he grew being taught about the spiritual world, many of the dragons who encountered him expected him to be a naturally born spirit reader due to his ghostly pale pelt and fine attention to detail, that wasn't the case, instead every attempt throughout his childhood only resulted in putting his life at risk.

In one of these attempts he lost his wings, it started off normal going into the spirit world, wandering through the dreamy and familiar lands, he only remembers a unusually large mirror charging at him, a ghostly aura surrounded it like a cloak, blurring its movements and making it hard to track. Before he knew it the large monster was standing above him, its dead black eyes staring down at him, his jaw twitching, chalous at the time was much smaller than it, he tired to strike at the ghost but his claws only passed through the mirror, he tried to thrash but a ghostly weight pressed down on him.
The mirror dragged his claws across Chalous wings, tearing his wings clear off, he bellowed the roar sounding close to that of a scream, a sudden flash of white blinded his senses.
He jumped up to his claws only to find himself in the living world, his blurry eyes came into focus seeing his mother sakujna yelling at him though the blur, she had a sharp panic in her voice, Chalous suddenly snapped back to his senses, a stinging sensation burnt on his scales he turned back to look at his wings…

They were gone, only bloodied stumps in their place, pain suddenly shot though Chalous’s back as his mind caught up with what happened.

Ever since then Chalous would bandage his missing wings by his sides, and started fearing the spirit world, barley speaking about it when it came up in conversation, he instead turned his focus towards becoming a warrior to defend his clan, as he aged he trained becoming much stronger than he was at the time of the attack, his size filling out to that of slightly larger than most guardians.

During his early adulthood, he began seeing white flashes of a creature of sorts never being able to make it out clearly, Chalous never really paid mind to it though continuing with his duties, hunting and patrolling the border.

The white creature began to show more often, he began noticing its shape, it was a ghostly deer about the size of a guardian, it had snow white pelt with thorns tangled and digged into its flank, its eyes were a dark black, it gave him a anxious feeling in his chest and making him feel dizzy unable to look at the creature for long.

After the creature began to bother him more, he went to his mother for the first time in years, his mother was shocked to see him, they hadn't spoken in years since he had became a warrior, and because she always saw him as a disappointment, he asked her about the creature, sakujna took a moment but mentioned a creature called a shinri, they are spiritual being that leave the spirit world to follow a living being, be it for malicious purposes or well intended is unknown until the shinri approaches you.
His mother casted a spell on Chalous, a luck charm.

After this the shinri seemed to disappear for awhile, Chalous almost forgot about it until a moon later, where it began to be more aggressive, it chased chalous one morning, he ran trees blurred past him, but something was off, he was moving faster than his normal run yet still felt the shinri’s breath on his tail, the warm morning air was icy cold and he couldn't see and end to the trees, no fire damage anywhere, or any sign of the wind border, and strange tangled thorns dug through the ground, Chalous stepped on a thorn branch that latched onto his front leg, pulling him down to the ground, the thorns began to engulf him, tearing into his sides and limbs, tangling over him until he couldn't see any longer, he lay only being able to attempt to yell, the thorns continued to tighten like a snake on its prey until he couldn't breath.

He awoke where the monster or the shinri had begun chasing him, he shook it off reluctantly going to finish the hunt.

The shinri appears multiple times over the next few months, every encounter lead Chalous to another death, one moment he had fell, the next he had been torn in half by the same thorns, burnt, drowned and many other deaths, by the end of the month they became more frequent, it was the first time in years he was feeling the same helplessness and fear as he had as a child, suddenly the strength he has spent so many years to build had no effect on this creature.

Every death, each as real as the other, pushed Chalous to his breaking point.

But the deaths were the least of Chalous’s worries, because at least they weren't real right?
In the living world a foreign plant began to grow through a wound on his leg, thorns, the same black thorns on the shinri, at this point Chalous was shaken beyond belief, as soon as he noticed the thorns he panickedly attempted to pull the thorn plant out of his leg, only resulting in making the wound worse and failing at removing the thorns, he instead tied a loose bandage around his leg, “i n-n-need ec-chosound.” he stuttered while talking to himself.

He limped his way through the caves, brushing past most dragons and ignoring some of his concerned piers until he reached the medicine caves, Amortentia wasn't there, it was just echosound and his mate katherine, “greetings echosound” echosound looked over getting up, you could see his frail skydancer body moving under his robes “greetings Chalous, what are you doing here?”
Chalous lifted up his front leg in response, showing the thorns tangled around his leg, echosound examined it from a distance before moving closer to the guardian.
“how did you manage this? it seems more like a curse than an accident” echosound said, “i'm not good with curses, you’d have to go to Amortentia or indigo” the dragon walked over to one of his shelves, it was covered in a mix of herbs and potions, books and candles and a feline looking skull with strange claws, all of it coated in the candles orange glow. echosound reached up for a book with his wings, hooking the book on the claw at the end of his wing, pulling it down it suddenly fell and echosound caught it in his arm nearly dropping it, at the same time he used his tail to pick up a roll of bandages.
Chalous watched intrigued as this little dragon trotted back to his side, echosound tied the bandage tightly around Chalous’s leg, “there now you won't die, at least you won't die in my cave.” he said while turning to the book, the book was about as big as his arms, he flicked though it the pages sending off clouds of dust that annoyed chalous’s nose, “here” echosound said tapping a page with his claws, he read for a bit the page was entitled ‘thorns curse, a sickness spirit ’ echosound held his head really close to be able to read, is he blind? Why is he leaning that close.. “Yeah you’ll have to go to amortentia for this, you know where his cave is right?” Chalous began walking out already “yeah, yeah” he said, he walked right past amortentia’s place to his cavern.

“Why dont you trust Amortentia?” one of his fellow students had asked him once, chalous stopped for a second “he's a mirror” Chalous responded simply, to which his classmate turned towards him in disbelief “mirrors aren't that bad! Alot of them live here wit-” “i dont care, i dont trust them, they came from that wasteland. And not to mention Amortentia is named after a maddening love potion, and! he was found in the middle of a village where everyone was dead and he just knew alchemy better than any of us for flamecallers sake.”

He stopped going on his hunting duties, exhausted being unable to sleep he stayed in his home all day, this day evolved to weeks, to months, throughout this he saw the deer multiple times, he saw it when he closed his eyes, in the corner of his eyes he saw a ghostly glow, he would open his eyes at night to see it stood besides him taunting him, like and echoing memory that wouldn't leave.

The thorns had grown to tangling around his tail, rooting themselves into his flanks and growing across his dead wings.

Chalous noticed how the thorns tangled across his body at an alarming rate, he walked out into the dusky humid caves from his house he could see the entire cave, seeing the other dragons all asleep or whispering amongst themselves, he looked at his reflection in a puddle that had formed outside his house from the opening in the roof.

There was something else in the puddle, a dragon, a completely ghostly white mirror, he stood completely still, turning his head towards the creature, but when he did manage to turn around only a shniri stood in its place, chalous began moving keeping his body close to the stone ready to spring away at any moment the shniri just stared, before it let out a horrific roar and jumped towards chalous, and chalous ran off, his claws skittering on the wooden scaffold like paths around the caves, bashing into a dragon who looked at chalous as if he was a madman, “hey! slow down” the dragon yelled, watching as chalous almost fell multiple times off the scaffold, the dragon was a mirror, it was Amortentia, he looked up to the dragon whom was gliding down on his wings but it was too late to slow down the monster was after him and the others couldn't see it, chalous skittered down a cavern leading to an exit, as he ran he looked behind himself, the deer was gone now a mirror only chasing him, Amortentia.. Yet he was in sync with the monster, but the spirit was just out of sync, Amortentia was yelling “STOP, YOUR GOING TO GET YOURSELF KILLED” yet somehow the shniri was saying something else, it was words weren't words, yet chalous understood them, yet at the same time couldn-

A sudden bright light blinded him at the end of the cave, he tripped and suddenly was falling down a steep cliff, his useless wings were unable to save him, his heavy body hit multiple ledges before finally slamming onto the ground.

He was extremely winded, as he attempted to catch his breath his flanks ached, pain stuck him from all angles, the thorns pain seeming to be amplified.

As Chalous’s eyes came back to focus he noticed Amortentia gliding down the shinri unsynced and faded, “what have you done to yourself” the mirror asked as he landed, reaching for a potion of his belt, “is that? A shniri curse! Why did you never go to me or your moth-” chalous swiped at Amortentia, the potion that the mirror held nearly fell out of his hands “what's wrong with you, let me help you” chalous who was still in a state of panic, amortentia placed a hand on chalous’s shoulder, gently tugging at the thorns causing the pain to roar back, but displaying the large wounds they had torn in his skin “these could kill you! And they are” chalous had enough he got up throwing the mirror off balance, “what are you doing now!” Amortentia just watched as chalous disappeared into the forest.
Running.
