Very few dragons have ever seen Myria in the full light of day, the Nocturne always found skulking around in the shadows or lurking in the dark. Those who have managed to not only find the stealthy dragon but also talk to her have found Myria to be very blunt to the point of being rude in her treatment of others. Anything she hears is never taken at face value; Myria is always searching for hidden truths and lies. Beyond that, she is an enigma, her likes, dislikes and true feelings are a complete mystery to even those who serve under her directly. Since a very young age, Myria always held the belief that any and all debts should be repaid; whether it takes the form of repaying a good deed or seeking vengeance on those who had wronged her. In her mind, it was simply the way of the world and how things should be. Her trust was earned through showing trustworthiness, and nothing less would get Myria to believe in another dragon. Those days are long gone, and now Myria keeps her trust to herself and remains wary of all other dragons, no matter what they try to do to get Myria to trust them. Myria's jaded, cynical view of others stems from one of her jobs as a novice spy, working with a small band of skilled fighters and talented mages on a rather long mission. They worked together fairly well at first, Myria playing her part as scout well. The mission proceeded as planned, up until the very end. One of Myria's comrades was spotted by the rival clan they were supposed to be sneaking around, and a brutal fight ensued. Having had these allies for months now, Myria was willing to fight by their side. They had proved to her that they were worth trusting and worth protecting. She darted in front of a blow meant for one of the mages, and went down hard. Her vision swam as hot pain flooded her senses, blood leaking from the wound in her chest. Struggling to her feet, the last thing she saw before blacking out was her 'companions' turning tail and leaving Myria to die. When she woke, somewhere in the Windswept Plataeu with her wounds dressed, her first thoughts were of revenge. The betrayal of her trusted companions left Myria cold, and since then she has refused to trust anyone, because even those you trust most can stab you in the back if it suits them. As she healed, she offered her skills to the clan that had rescued her, and was made Spymaster some years later. Though she reports directly to the clan's leader and takes orders perhaps better than anyone, she's still as guarded as ever and if the clan knew of her better then perhaps they would fear the day when the aloof Nocturne finally snaps. Myria now serves as spymaster for the Twisting Gales clan. Nothing happens within the clan or around it without her knowledge; the nocturne has spies and informants all over the Windswept Plateau and even in a few of other flights. Though she reports directly to the clan leader, there are many secrets the nocturne withholds sharing with any, keeping some information for only herself, should she deem it unnecessary knowledge for the clan's well being. The freedom she has in withholding or sharing such sensitive information makes some dragons in the clan anxious or openly distrustful of Myria. Myria wears dark, filigree armor that was crafted for her with stealth in mind, the metal oiled and fitted so that it hardly makes a sound when she moves. The dark colors along with her own dim scales help her meld into the darkness when she wishes to remain hidden. A small shadowy creature is occasionally visible around the spymaster, her familiar that assists her in keeping an eye on her subordinates, allies and enemies. The creature blends into the shadows of the individual it is spying on. Myria keeps a store of mission files and notes on most members of the clan as well as the clan's allies and any other individuals of note. She hand-writes these files herself, heavily encrypting them with complex ciphers. Some of her codes are known to her subordinates, while the most sensitive information only the secretive Nocturne is able to decrypt. |
