"There is nothing so kingly as kindness, and nothing so royal as truth." Aesyn had been a water priestess back in her homeland as well as a princess, as her parents were the clan leaders of her original birthplace. It was tradition that the second eldest princess would take on this role until she was to wed or found a charge, which Aesyn did with delicate care and purpose. She was good at her role, and enjoyed passing on blessings while preparing for rituals and festivities. She was also a good princess. Delicate and regal, she had the air about her of the firstborn, and not the second. But with all guardians, a time must come where they travel and leave their birth clan. Aesyn took this with as much stride as one expects. Her parents had betrothed her to another in a far off clan, hoping their daughter would find something there on her Search. With her personal guard and closest friend Baedrik, the two traveled across the land to bring Aesyn to her future family's home. Collected as she always was, Aesyn never spoke about whether or not she wanted to wed this dragon or not, as she felt it wasn't her place to speak against the decisions of her parents. Truthfully, Aesyn secretly hoped she would not make it to her bethrothed home, afraid of not finding her charge within this new clan. Failure was something Aesyn had dreaded since she was a child and had heard the stories of guardians that did not complete a successful Search. She had lived her life with purpose since as far as she could remember. Along their travels they found themselves within the Highland Scrubs. Aesyn had started feeling something within her as they navigated the arid land. It was almost a sort of buzzing. Baedrik suggested it was the sensation of electricity that pulsed through the land, but it felt different. However, they were unable to ruminate on it for too long before a group of bandits attacked the two. While Baedrik may have been Aesyn's guard, he was not much of a fighter. Still, he valiantly tried, but was wounded by one of the bandits. Aesyn surged forward, protecting her friend from the onslaught of attacks and fighting off all of the bandits on her own until they were stumbled upon by two other dragons. Mirta and Scribe of Clan Tintreach came across the two, and the trio fought off the bandits. Baedrik was too injured to travel, so the two followed the Clan Elder and Archivist back to their clan's territory to receive medical treatment. As they spent a few weeks within Clan Tintreach, it happened. Aesyn found her charge. She wanted to protect her friend Baedrik, but also to help the clan. Mirta and Scribe had welcomed them in and given them shelter, food and took care of the two well. She grew close to Mirta especially, valuing her wisdom over the course of their stay. It seemed Aesyn seemed to understand the elder more than most that entered the clan in short time, as if the Princess was naturally meant to be there. It was within the time they spent in Clan Tintreach that word came to Aesyn. A messenger bird carried a letter to her family to update them on what had happened, only for a response to come shortly after. It turned out her betrothed had died in an accident, and their family was not seeking a bride any further. While the news of a sudden death was as surprising and saddening as expected, Aesyn knew without a doubt that her Search had ended. She took on her life's charge of assisting Mirta and providing for the clan as best she could, while fostering friendships amongst the others with Baedrik. Aesyn wrote home of her Search and her new charge, suggesting she be 'ambassador' between the two clans. Mirta, the clan elder along with Opaline, the clan head were ecstatic with the decision. Aesyn's parents were overjoyed to learn their daughter had found her charge, though wary at knowing she would be in such a far off land. But that was the life of a guardian, and so they gave their daughter their blessing. They sometimes send gifts to Aesyn, and often write to her. |
