Cenn is the one Shade-infected dragon permitted to exist in The Hollow, kept in quarantine by Frip so that she and the Architects' Guild can experiment with ways to stop the spread of Shade corruption and perhaps even save the souls it affects.

Typically, Cenn's inner experience of his quarantine is one of sensory deprivation, Shade-induced pain, and madness -- whether the latter is a result of the Shade tainting his soul or his experiences is anyone's guess. Occasionally, a researcher may forge the proper links to actually communicate with Cenn, or even allow him to manifest in a Hollow environment.
