My hopes of breaching the system were gone. The building was engulfed in flames. I enhaled the smokey air one last time and turned my back. There was no hope for me here.

But when I turned, Whiplash was right at the tip of my nose. "Where are you going, little one?" He said menacingly, yellow eyes gleaming. I opened my mouth, but no words escaped. Whiplash's long neck stretched closer to me.

If Whiplash knew I had set the fire to kill my boss, who took me as a baby for child labor, I would be dead. I was a thief, but I didn't want to be. Once Moth was dead, I would be free. I had to leave. Now.

Moth had taken me from my nest when I was a hatchling to use as a pawn in robbery. This had gone on for way too long. Moth deserved it. He really did. But I still shook head to toe when I planted the match. "Little one, why don't we have a little conversation?" Whiplash's eyes narrowed even more as he said this. "Why don't you shut your MOUTH!" I screamed, whipping my tail at Whiplash's striped blue face and pinning him down. "Help!" He tried to scream, but I had already covered his mouth.

"Coward," I muttered, crashing my thick tail down on to Whiplash's head and knocking him out. I heard shouts from behind me. "Hey!" shouted a nocturne as he soared towards me. I turned away from the flaming building and bolted, never looking back. Soon all I could hear was the heavy sound of my constricted breathing as I grew more and more tired. I was miles and miles away from the camp now. I could rest. I flopped down on to the ground and fell asleep immediately.
