Biography

untitled_by_icewing24-db7lp9l.png

The first thing she felt was cold. Which was weird, she was an Ice dragon. She’s never felt cold before. Then pain. Then nothingness again.

-

She was in and out of conscience for a while, she could tell that at least. She had a fog in her head that was tiring and present every time she was awake. She did notice the Mirror dragon though. Which was also weird, she didn’t know any Mirror dragons. At least, that she could remember. She passed out again.

-

When she awoke again the fog in her brain seemed to have lifted a bit. There was an awful taste in her mouth. She carefully raised her delicate neck, wincing at the stiffness.

The Mirror noticed her movement and snapped her head to look right at her.

She wasn’t really fond of Mirrors, their eyes always sort of creeped her out.

“You’re awake. Drink this, you must be parched.” The Mirror offered a cup to her, small probably for a Mirror but quite big for a Fae. “It’s just water don’t worry.” Sniffing it just to be sure, Inferai took a sip, and then some more.

“Do you… remember anything? Your name?” The Mirror questioned.

“It’s… still hard to think, but my name’s Inferai. Yours?”

“Irinte. Do you remember your trial at least? That would likely be one of your last memories.” She thought about it for a bit, the fog was completely gone now, and some memories were returning with the clarity.

“Trial?”

“Yes, you were imprisoned in the Ice Wall, you must have done something pretty bad to warrant that.” Irinte was blunt with her words, but she also seemed tired.

“There wasn’t much of a trial, if I remember. They rounded up everyone that worked at that facility and dragged them all to the fortress together.” Something there caught Irinte’s attention… Inferai sighed and continued,” I wish I knew more of what was going on in there, they needed a scientist with strong magic and I needed the treasure.” Inferai dipped her head down and took another sip of the water.

“You don’t have any ideas of what they were doing? Why you all were arrested?” Irinte questioned, tilting her head slightly as she asked.

“I’m not sure, but whatever they were trying to do? It was definitely unethical. I just don’t know to what extent really…”

The conversation fizzled out there. Inferai took the opportunity to take in her surroundings. They seemed to be in a dug out cave with snow visible outside. The mirror was laying down in a way that blocked the exit. Hmmmm.

“So… why did you rescue me? Do I know you?”

“It just felt like the right thing to do.” Irinte’s fins might not be as expressive as a Fae’s but she made so many subtle head movements, the tired nervousness was obvious. Honestly it was endearing, cute even. Not something Inferai would have expected from a breed that was known for being ruthless bloodthirsty hunters.

Maybe she could get used to this Mirror.

“Wait hold on, I was asleep… for how long?”

“Well, if we do the math, then hmmmm.” Irinte stops walking to do some counting on her toes. “Yeah, twenty years, give or take some.”

“What.”
