 Bengal isn't a part of Ligare, per se. When he's in the territory he sleeps in the Home Tree and he has friends among the clan, but he never stays for very long. After a childhood of near-isolation, being around so many other dragons makes him claustrophobic. He much prefers the nomadic lifestyle of the mismatched Beastclan caravan he was raised in, though he doesn't mind acting as a go-between when the caravan needs to pass through dragon territory. Being raised by a collection of centaurs, longnecks, and sprangyroo fundamentally changed how Bengal views draconic society. While he doesn't attempt to deny his origins, he does regard other clans with a more critical eye than most, especially when it comes to how they interact with their non-dragon neighbors. Ligare's acceptance of his family, wary though it was, had intrigued Bengal enough to keep him coming back, sometimes even staying with the clan as the caravan continues its route.

 That said, there are certain things about Ligare that just seem to draw him in, not the least of which is a brooding Wildclaw from the Plaguelands. Though Bengal hasn't made any advances, he doesn't stop himself from looking for her face in the crowed whenever he returns to the clan. By virtue of his frequent absences, he hasn't heard the full details of how her sons were born or how they returned to the clan. He is aware that Shemer and Squall have been the subject of some idle gossip in the past, but like most of Ligare he doesn't know the entire story. While he might carry the spark of a torch for Shemer, he has no intentions of making this known and certainly not to her. He wouldn't jeopardize the life she has built for herself. But that doesn't mean he can easily ignore the twinge in his heart when he sees Shemer with her mate.
