"The sound of squealing youngsters can be heard further ahead, and as you turn the corner you find yourself almost stumbling over a pile of them splayed across a collection of feathers, bells, and shimmering fabrics. It moves, uncoiling to turn to you, and before you stands a very strange looking red Spiral with hatchlings dangling off his various appendages. He blinks at you, his big purple eyes uncanny with their focus, and he tilts his head to one side with a puckish smile.”

Gaeriod is the self-appointed hatchling keeper of the clan, and acts as a guardian for those who are abandoned nearby or don’t have any parents to call their own, claiming them as his and becoming a surrogate until they grow up and move on. He’s been with the clan for a long time, and no one’s quite sure where he came from. Amongst the hatchlings, he likes to perpetuate the tale that he burst to life one day out of the poppy fields, and one day he’ll surely bloom flowers to prove it.

Around the older dragons of the clan, Gaerilod is more of a mystery than a source of entertainment. His strange, outdated demeanor and wistful tales of long-gone kingdoms have a touch too much truth to them to be just fun for hatchlings… but most of the clan parents still trust him enough to watch over their children. That is, until he tells them one too many ghost stories that will keep them awake at night for the next week.
