Got suspecious of some well-accepted good intended people that declared an outright genocide of problematic races. His outspoken disagreement got met with scorn, and soon got framed for the assassination of a high goverment officer. He was shocked to find out his friends and the people he used to serve were so quick to turn on him, forgetting all the good he did for them. With a threat of getting locked and executed, he had no choice but to make a run for.
He hopes to find a way to stop this needless violence.

That attitude of "I don't need to stop every act that I couldn't do myself" is vital to fitting a Paladin into a mixed-alignment party.
"I'm not going to kill you... but I don't have to save you."
I never chastised, admonished, or even said you shouldn't have done that. My go to line was usually: "If you think that was the best choice then I believe you."
