BACKGROUND STORY

Expeditioners--Pelican, Tawny, Mosspool, Prism

This group goes out on conquests throughout Sornieth to learn and experience the vivid cultures of different flights, and bring back souvenirs and information about these other clans, how they live, etc.

I only faintly remember my father’s presence in my life. From the moment I was born, I knew I had two other siblings, a father, and a mother, like most hatchlings know. The only part other hatchlings failed to understand was that my father went back to his ‘home clan’ and took his two sisters with him. I always asked Wispwillow where my father and sisters went, but she only reassured that they’re as safe and happy as her and me. From nosing around though, I’ve found out that my father did in fact go to his home clan, where he was born to the FireFlies clan and didn’t just abandon my mother and me. All in all, it still sounded pathetic to me. I know I am stronger than my sisters, and I got bored easily because they didn’t have the endurance to play as long as he could. I knew they couldn’t have flown far away. But, I knew I wanted to, in some way, fight for my true clan, Crowtalon. I admire Raven, and I listen to every story Neapolitan could tell of Raven and Brightwing since the beginning. I wanted to stay here, even though I never thought I’d have to express that opinion. The night Charcoal, Nightbloom, and Willowshade left, I had felt an emptiness in my heart take the place of some of its happiness. I was happy to be in this home with my mother, but families need all of their members to feel whole again. So, I tried to look for that in other dragons and found it in Neapolitan, Requiem, and Brightwing, who all reminded me of either my sisters or my father. Plus, I have the Crowtalon Imperials to talk to. It’s a breed thing. Life was looking pretty average, with some amazing moments along the road for me with my mother, as a Crowtalon warrior.

The night Wispwillow left the cave greatly hurt Mosspool at the time. He didn’t know she was sent out on a short notice and late in the night to The Shadowbinder. The Shadowbinder was always up real late into the night and throughout the day. Don’t get me wrong she did take naps. Even deities need naps. So, when Mosspool woke the next day and couldn’t find his mother, instead of asking someone like a good noodle, he decided to suppress his inner anger and sadness. His face would be twisted with grief when he was on his own, writing in journals just to tear them to shreds later on. Thankfully, Wispwillow returned from her mission and was very distraught to see how Mosspool looked and acted. He shut her out, and didn’t look for any attention from her. He hadn’t already suffered enough, yet still never asked, so Raven assumed she had time to wake and tell him where she was headed. But, upon her arrival, it couldn’t have been worse. Mosspool had started training with the Native Rogues, and hoped to assist them, but Raven stuck him to work on escorting ambassadors to their homelands. He saw an opportunity to meet with his father, but Raven forbid him from going without her consent. Not wanting to upset Raven, he respected her priorities and rules. Wispwillow did want to care for her child, but felt distanced because of how Mosspool had shunned her. She wrote Charcoal about how happy she was in Crowtalon, leaving out the parts about their son. God forbid, he’d come marching in here with his sisters and sternly lecture him on the misunderstanding that occurred many months ago. But, Wispwillow thought it would be better if nobody associated her with Mosspool. It was a pain enough to try sending two squeaking hatchlings and a full-size Imperial back to Charcoal’s clan in the cover of night that consumed The Tangled Wood at such a late hour. For that matter, nobody knew who his parents were, and is still told not to tell anyone in the clan. The only dragons he may speak to about his parents were Raven, Wispwillow, Lavender, and Charcoal, though he didn’t know who Lavender was, and never heard of anyone in Crowtalon called Lavender. So, he went along with it and kept his parents a secret. He was supposed to say that he was one of Shadowbinder’s apprentices that had come to live with Crowtalon after he was unfit to fight in exalt for her. Now that got the attention of dragons, and whenever they asked more he either shivered, or just fell silent and told them he didn’t want to talk about it.
