______ Valentine grew up in a small village with his parents on the border between two flight territories; he was young when his clan was thrown in to disarray by a natural disaster, many of the trees surrounding the clan fell and crushed the dens, injuring many of the clan. Valentine was one of the unlucky few who were trapped when a rogue group of Harpies and Talenok attacked the clan, killing many who couldn't run or simply didn't because they wanted to protect their clan mates. Valentine survived the attack, but the poor little drake was terrified and trapped under the remains of his family's den, forced to watch his clan destroyed and the survivors run. he was too scared to call for help, afraid the attacking beast clan would come back and hurt him like they had his clan, he was horrified to see the Harpies come back and loot the dead, taking hides, horns, pearls, unhatched eggs, and anything else of value they could find and leaving; Valentine watched in horror.

Valentine eventually got himself free of his prison instead of leaving as his clan mates had he stayed in the abandoned village, finding ways to survive on his own. he lived like that for months, avoiding beast clan and dragon alike for fear of being hurt until a small fae dragoness found his village and him. the little dragoness spent several days trying to coax him out of his hiding place, he didn't come out until a harpy tried attacking her; he threw a large stone at the harpy and drove it away. they spent several days in the abandoned village, hunting for supplies that the clan could use and finding very little that was actually useful to more than a few, he found a few things that he kept for himself from his den and that of a friend who was not lucky enough to have escaped.

______ Valentine left with the little fae and joined the clan, learning to be the representative for the Tangled woods within his new home. he slowly came out of his shell with a few dragons, although still shy around many dragons, he preferred listening rather than talking and found many hatchlings his age came to him with their problems which he would offer his opinion if he had an idea on how to help. Valentine kept mostly to himself, staying quiet and mostly ignored by most of his clan didn't particularly bother him, his clan thinks he's kind and gentle and for all intents and purposes they are right, if he has the option he won't fight. When the nightmares started he decided to try to nip it in the bud so to speak and spoke to one of the clan warriors about learning to fight, but being a small hatchling his clan mate was understandably hesitant to train him and made the little drake a deal, he would train him, but only after he'd reached adolescents and could better handle both weapon and rough housing. Valentine was happy to agree to this and for a time his nightmares stopped.

Reaching his teen years Valentine met the lead warrior and reminded him of their deal, his clan mate gave him a time to meet him for private training and continued about his day. Valentine waited impatiently, bouncing from one task to the next with a uncontrollable energy that seemed to make him antsy almost excited as he busied himself until he could leave. Valentine learned fast how to avoid being hit and how to strike back against his oponent and was soon a very talented fighter although he continues no matter how good he gets, relieved that he could defend himself and those he held dear to him if the clan was attacked. As Valentine grew into a large adult drake he continued simply listening to his clan and offering a shoulder to cry on to anyone who needed it, gaining many friends within his clan and outside of his clan as many who visited the clan and spoke to him found him very comforting.
