Jigsaw, or "Jigs" as he's commonly known to the members of the House, was technically in the House before Echidna made it her own. However, it's hard to argue that Jigsaw has lived in the House the longest, as the mechanical dragon was far from operational when Echidna and her brood first moved in.

Shortly after the House's founding, Bram discovered the robotic dragon's parts (about one thousand, by Bram's count) in multiple unlabeled, moldering boxes scattered throughout the House's labyrinthine basements. Luckily there was a still (mostly) legible instructional tome in the library that walked Bram through assembling the pieces. Whether this tome belonged to the previous owner, or someone even more distant in the House's history, is currently unknown. There was no owner or author listed on the manual. The closest the cover gets to naming its source is the slogan "Carapace Creature Company: Life is a Choice™, Choose Wisely :;)" with a QR code that just emits a knowing laugh when scanned.

Complicated blood magic was required to bring life to the assembled robot, and Bram used his own blood and rudimentary magical talents to attempt the ritual. The spell successfully activated Jigsaw, but with a noticeable side effect. The magically infused blood that powers him is unstable, and sometimes it leaks from his not-quite-perfectly assembled joints and seams. The animating magic then spreads to other inanimate objects Jigs touches, bringing painful and incomplete life to all manner of household objects. Jigsaw has been forced to put enough toasters, bed pillows, armchairs, and articles of clothing "out of their misery," that most House residents are used to the sight of Jigs taking a hammer to a feebly twitching kitchen appliance during breakfast. Whatever moral qualms Jigs should have about these "murders" are settled by his conviction that any fragment of his consciousness forced to live for eternity in a coffee mug is a fragment better off dead. Still, Jigs is often pretty shaken up by these encounters.

Jigs is well liked in the house for his relaxed goofiness, a personality best described as "aging golden retriever meets fun dad." He's not the brightest bulb in all social situations, but his affection and earnestness know no bounds. He alternates erratically between states of intense focus and wild distraction, which tends to keep him a bit preoccupied during conversations either way. Nevertheless, he's excited whenever someone keeps him company while he works, despite his sometimes spotty replies.

Jigsaw's work mostly involves repair jobs given to him by Bram, plus his own mechanical pet projects. Jigsaw is fascinated with puzzles, traps, robotics, and everything else complicated and metallic. What starts as a simple repair project often becomes a rabbit hole of complications and "improvements" that twists down staircases and features anywhere between three and fifty steam valves. Quite frankly, when in unsupervised "focus" mode he doesn't know when to quit, complicating his home improvements far past their usefulness (and his puzzles far past solvability.) The House is usually littered with half-finished Jigsaw projects, which can be both annoying and dangerous to unwary housemates. The traps, allegedly built to improve the House's security, probably cause more injuries and property damage than they prevent. Jigsaw's robotics projects tend to be much more useful, and he is very careful to never leave those incomplete. Ranging from simple puppets, to mechanized familiars, to living dragons like himself, these creations are truly where Jigsaw's abilities shine.

Jigs does not consider himself an inventor, or even a scientist. Very little of what he builds is purely his own creation, as he prefers to find and modify blueprints from other sources. Still, his instincts and craftsmanship are amazing. Bram frequently reminds Jigs that he sells his cleverness short, and when it comes from Bram he sometimes even believes it.

The two are currently engaged, and have been for a long time. Many have asked them when they actually plan on getting married, but both of them are so often wrapped up in other projects that the wedding keeps being put off indefinitely. Though their partnership has hit its fair number of snags over the years, the two are nothing if not problem solvers. Bram is the only member of the House that can keep Jigs on task, as he's uniquely energized and focused by his fiancé's presence. Their shared room is one of the few spaces in the House that always feels safe, a perfectly maintained center of mundane domesticity in a house of blood and mayhem.
