Biography
Sarcosuch is the lord high military advisor to the Queen
Sarcosuch had infamous involvement in many of the bloodiest battles of recent history; he has now been retired from active service so long that he has had both long service in the armed forces and in the court, previously under the old king and now under young Queen Setae.
Even the tales told by survivors of those battles cannot compare to what was known of the king, particularly in his old age; and that Sarcosuch was able to advance in the ranks of both, make him an ominous figure to many. Even within the court, many avoid him as politely as they can. He was close to the old king, and undoubtedly had some hand in executing many of the plots and schemes hatched by the king. It was not a safe time to even be a courtier then, and his stable presence almost confirmed it; it's just unknown which ones he was involved with.
Queen Setae rules in a very different manner to her father, and is quite firm in discontinuing her own public image from that of her father's; and just as was expected, she proved this by removing the majority of her father's old advisors and followers from their positions of influence at court. That she did not remove him was a deeply curious choice on her part; certainly, there could hardly be a better dragon qualified for the position of military advisor, but he is a discomfiting continuing presence at court for many nonetheless.
As is, Lord Sarcosuch (covertly nicknamed 'screaming lord sarcosuch' by some old army lags) is rarely present at general governmental meetings in these times of peace. He spends most of his time in the palace's map room; it's common knowledge that he has a plan for fighting against and invading ever other place in Sornieth, and keeps a close scrutiny on all news from overseas so as to keep them appropriately updated. The assistant overseer of the map room, Navigator, just leaves him to it, and finds it bizarrely difficult to reconcile the old dragon with what she's heard of him. He is always polite, patient, and thoughtful towards her. He is aware of her confused sympathy towards him, and appreciates it, while still finding it somewhat amusing.
In his personal life, he has one daughter, Brindi; whose quiet, withdrawn mother made little impact on court before dying in childbirth. He treasures his daughter, and is immensely proud of the advanced position she herself has earned within the royal military. That said, this doesn't prevent him from constantly complaining that the army is not what it was, even around her.
As an older dragon of the land, he has more allegiance to the older regional elemental avatars, in particular, the fire demon Ventsuvius. He keeps an altar with a carved stone icon of Ventsuvius in his personal chambers, and burns offerings to it on a regular basis. He also regularly considers getting a family tree drawn up that officially positions Ventsuvius as a founding ancestor; but is still holding off on it for now.
