Scavenger



On an icy, rock strewn plain, a white animal with what appeared to be shards of ice protruding from his back fur rooted among the rocks. The hoarfrost mauler was looking for edible tubers and insects, he wasn't picky. You couldn't afford to be picky in this icy land with the wind constantly howling overhead. You also couldn't afford to ignore shadows approaching and the animal paid the consequence. By the time he noticed the shadow looming toward him it was too late to reach safety and a large set of talons scooped him up and lifted him high into the sky. The animal squeezed his eyes shut in terror as the dragon carried him high over the landscape. As the dragon swooped low to the earth the mauler wistfully noted how rich with food this area was in contrast to his home. He landed in the midst of more dragons. The mauler knew he was intended as dinner and backed up to the cliff wall, growling and snarling.
...Cineraro landed near the larder to unload the food items he had gathered. He saw that Sorin had also returned and was at the midst of some kind of commotion. He felt a strange sense of urgency to reach the scene. He arrived to find Sorin and several other dragons surrounding a white bear that had backed into a corner, spitting with rage. A wave of concern washed over Cineraro and he swooped in and put himself between the creature and the other dragons. "Leave him be! Can't you see he is terrified?" The confused look on the face of the surrounding dragons was quite comical and Hyacinth couldn't help but giggle. Then Sorin groaned, "Cin, I know how you love to collect odd junk" as he eyed the eclectic assortment of clothing on the blue dragon, "but this is dinner!" "I've brought plenty more for dinner, this mauler is under my charge!" Cineraro couldn't believe he heard himself saying this but realized it was true. As he turned to look at his new charge he wondered how to gain its trust. Lost in thought he carelessly allowed his tail to drift close to the creature. "OW!! Hey!" Ignoring the laughter from the other dragons he snatched up the spiky white bear and carried him to his sleeping nest to begin the task of gaining this snarling creatures trust.
