Prideful/Resourceful/Restless
At Sofia's first mention of interest in sailing the sea or sky, her Pearlcatcher mother insisted that sailors were not the sort of company a young Pearlcatcher ought to keep. Sofia's father demanded to know what kind of company he was and whether they ought to stay in company. One thing led to another, and Sofia tottered after her father, the airship captain, as soon as she was able. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Sofia inherited every bit of her mother's pride. Even though she was only a lowly midshipdragon, she seemed to think she knew everything about the ship. At the very least, she thought everyone else was wrong, even if she was not right.
Over time, Sofia learned the hard way that she wasn't the answer to every question. Her shipmates found her intolerable, even though she was the captain's daughter. She maintained some version of her pride as she grew, though she also became a bit wiser. She may not have been the best at everything, but she was the best net maker on the ship. This earned her the respect (if not fondness) of her crewmates when they grew hungry. Using junk and scrap materials, she discovered a talent for bringing unexpected things together to create strong lacework. She had her start in strange combinations, after all.
Her father's ship ran into some unusually bad weather one day. Perhaps it was an occasional clash of the deities, their power swirling into the storm that sent the ship swaying off course. Either way, it was nothing the crew was unprepared for. It was not Sofia's first time seeing weather like it. To this day, she's not sure what happened to make her fall overboard, but fall she did, the winds for once in her life ripping at her wings wildly instead of supporting them. She fell through the air and into unknown seas, shadows lurking in the corners of her vision before she lost consciousness.
She woke to the bickering of an old mated pair, feeling oddly light as she attempted to sit up. There were suddenly gentle hands keeping her in place, and a stern voice chided her, "Calm down, kid. You're safe, but you've lost a lot of blood, and we need you to stay still." Everything went dark again in short order.
Days passed in and out of awareness, and Sofia learned what she had lost. She was now a Wind dragon with a single wing, her balance unsteady unless it was kept clamped to her side.
