"So you have had your fun with her. Allow me to have my fun with him."

Envoy took one look at the skinny, mangey Fae child before him and waved his claw. "Do with him what you will, Zulekha."

"Hold on." Rache raised her claw, fluttering off her throne towards him. The Wyrmwound's sickening web had given her a new splotch of color, seeming to ooze off her scales. She landed before the trembling child, took his head between her claws, and forced him to look at her. "This child has the eyes of the Plague."

"We send thousands of children with the eyes of our people to the Wyrumwound each day," Envoy growled, "including the ones born from your loins!"

"He is...different," Rache replied, a foreign warmth in her voice. "He is special." She looked at Zulekha. "Give him a name and let him stay."

"To do what?" Envoy scoffed. "We already have a general, a doctor, slaves by the dozen, and a slave driver. What else could we possibly need?"

"Entertainment." Rache turned her blood-red eyes upon her consort to silence him before returning her eyes to the child. "You can dance, can't you?"

The child nodded.

"Very well. You shall be my dancer."

Regardless of his thoughts on the matter, Envoy had no choice but to be silent. One should never go against the will of his queen.

Being no better than a slave, Fearin has no identity of his own. He is obedient and does what he is told, but what is life without freedom?

Maybe one day, he shall find himself. But today is not that day.
