Merine's daughter LeGuin was a surprise to everyone in the clan, but they are all still quite fond of her. As Pineseed's first and only great-grandchild, she has a special place in the lair. LeGuin is only dimly aware of her importance in the royal family, however. She's much more interested in stories, games, and playing pretend.

LeGuin comes off as a bit of a slow-thinker, but really she's just a daydreamer, lost in her own fantasies. She gets along well enough with the other hatchlings in the clan- her cousin Veil, and the messenger's son Grax. She's particularly fond of Grax, who always has gossip to share from every nook and cranny of the Dragonhome lair. Veil is less pleasant to be around because he's so bossy, but sweet and docile LeGuin puts up with him anyway.

LeGuin loves her mother very much, but she absolutely worships her father Caro. She's never happier than when he comes back from one of his journeys with a new toy for her. Some of the other dragons wish she would show as much interest in magic and the ways of the clan, but only time will tell if she will ever grow into it.
