"The living shield of the clan." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Abswurmbachite, or Abby for short, has learned firsthand that Dragonhome can be a desolate, and often dangerous, place. As a child, she heard of her father’s feats as a protector of her populous birth clan, and aspired to be just like him. Abby and many other young dragons were trained as warriors, but their clan wasn’t large enough to hold all of them. The new soldiers were encouraged to ply their trade elsewhere. Abby ventured out into Dragonhome, seeking a clan in need of some hired brawn. Abby eventually found a more permanent role than a passing mercenary, and is now working as a guard for a small, nomadic clan. She’s quite content with this role, as she’s able to remain in her elemental homeland and do what she excels at- protecting her clan from the many threats that Dragonhome may throw at them. Abswurmbachite bears the typical Ridgeback disposition towards borrowing. However, while most members of her species borrow in a canny fashion, Abby’s borrowing is obvious, to say the least. She makes little effort to conceal borrowed goods, but is mercifully quick to return them to their rightful owners when she’s called out about this behaviour. Many of the items Abby borrows are utterly useless to her personally, and she’s become the chief suspect whenever anything from maps to microscopes go walkabout. For the most part, the clan tolerates this behaviour- Abby isn’t malicious towards her friends and is merely following a primordial part of her culture. That isn’t to say that the clan dragons have precious or delicate items that they would prefer the Ridgeback didn’t borrow! Abby’s exploits have only landed her in serious trouble when conducted against other clans. Fortunately, the few clans that she has borrowed from so far have been quite understanding once their items were returned. However, many dragons of her clan are concerned that Abby’s obvious borrowing may provoke permanent tensions between another clan and themselves. In her spare time, Abswurmbachite appears quite docile. She takes great pleasure in basking in any speck of sunlight that she can find. She’s fairly religious, though she doesn’t have a particularly clear grasp of concepts such as the world’s founding. However, Abby is a powerhouse in battle. She prefers to charge into skirmishes alone, so that she doesn’t have to worry about potential damage to her allies. However, Abby’s physical might is often of little use against more supernatural enemies. She’s too proud to admit that, in certain situations, she needs help in a fight, and would rather keep going, at a great cost to herself, than back down from a battle, no matter how unfair it may be. Occasionally, Abswurmbachite is called upon to fulfil an odd but necessary role- that of a living drill. Abby, like most Ridgebacks, has an aptitude for burrowing tunnels in sedimentary rock, and is pleased to be capable of serving her clan in this manner. However, she is only infrequently asked to burrow tunnels in the ground, as Abby’s enthusiastic borrowing can damage any artefacts or precious sediment in the stone.
