Little is known about Quartz's life before she found Vosges and Cymbal. She doesn't speak, not even in her native Coatl. No one is really sure if she can't, or just chooses not to, and ultimately it doesn't matter. Quartz is more than happy to remain a mystery to the rest of the clan. She keeps to herself, except for when she joins Vosges and Cymbal on patrol. She is a talented healer, and dabbles in the more offensive arts, but due to her silence and strange appearance, most of the clan gives her a wide berth. Younger dragons dare each other to go as close to her lair as possible, or to steal some skull or trinket she has stashed away, but the clan's more mature residents are happy to ignore and be ignored.

She, Vosges and Cymbal make a curious sight when together. Early on in their relationship, she and Vosges reached an understanding, and the Guardian apparently enjoys spending time with Quartz. The two generally sit together in silence on clear nights. As for Cymbal, the Mirror spends most of her time with the mage chatting nonstop, for though Quartz may not respond, it is obvious that she listens.
