A white dragon in the Southern Icefield just makes sense. A white dragon in the Viridian Labyrinth is doomed. Born with leucism, Rue's parents expected her to be picked off by a predator at the first opportunity. When the young Wildclaw survived, she was encouraged to take up an artistic pastime. However it was quickly discovered that Rue possessed no artistic ability whatsoever. What she did have was a keen eye and quick reflexes, and the attitude to match. Lethal though she was, there was no place in the clan for a hunter that could be spotted from a mile away. She might have become a guard, but found she had no desire to protect those clanmates that picked on her mercilessly. Being teased by Coatls, she thought, was particularly insufferable given their ridiculous proportions and stupid butt-feathers. So Rue took a third option, and left. She wandered alone for many weeks, subsisting on kills stolen from other dragons. It was during one such attempt that she met Piquet. Rue's first impression of the other Wildclaw was that she was an idiot. Beating her into submission would be no problem at all. So the two fought, and to Rue's surprise, Piquet managed to hold her own. Eventually the battle ended in a draw, and hesitantly Rue accepted Piquet's offer to share the meal. The two travelled together, and after meeting Frogbit and allowing him to join their small band, Piquet suggested they hire themselves out as mercenaries. Thus, the Thorns, an all-Wildclaw group, was born. They met Vosges while searching for a territory in the Gladeveins that they could call home base. Vosges agreed that they could set up their base at the edges of his territory so long as they helped to defend its borders. Thus settled, the Thorns now offer their services to any clan willing to pay.
