Biography

Yin was born to a clan of paladins, surrounded by tales of heroic conquest. She grew up wishing to journey across Sornieth, saving those in need and doing good deeds in the Lightweaver's name.

One day, however, the clan was attacked by a band that was too organized, too methodical to be simple raiders. They destroyed everything, cutting down armored warriors and bright-eyed hatchlings alike. Yin fought back, of course, even though she was only an apprentice. She fought with reckless courage and brute strength, but all it took was a single backstab from another dragon who took advantage of her duel with a wrecker. Yin felt herself slip from life, but something still burned within her. As she took one last breath, she clutched her copper pendant engraved with the clan's symbol.

.....

Yin blinked at the sunlight. Her back was a bit numb, but other than that, she felt refreshed. She still wore the dented iron armor and copper pendant that she had when her clan was attacked. It was as if nothing had changed.

Except... The ruins around her didn't look the part for a clan so recently destroyed. They looked ancient, meticulously carved stone overtaken by lichen and ivy. The field was pockmarked with wildflowers, and there were a few grazing animals at the edges. Everything looked so peaceful, but she still couldn't shake the image of her home burning before her eyes.

Yin wandered the land for a few years, though not with the wonder she spent so many hours daydreaming about. She felt lost. The world had changed so much in what seemed like so little time. There were now scrolls that could permanently alter a dragon's characteristics, scrying pools that allowed clans to glimpse at lineages and potential, and tomes that would allow you to sense the magical reserves of your opponent. She saw so many more fantastical inventions, perfected by certain clans but not yet distributed throughout Sornieth. It was all so much, yet oh so fascinating.

In time, Yin found herself at the shores of a clan in the Tsunami Flats. She had travelled throughout every domain, yet she had only seen a fragment of what the world had to offer. Still, she found herself settling down with the still-growing clan. It felt so much like home, in a different way than her original clan had. It was nice. Though the move to the Starwood Strand took some getting used to, the domain of Arcane holds many wondrous sights to see.

Still, Yin couldn't help wondering what exactly happened that fateful night, even farther away by now. Why had the clan been attacked? Why had it been destroyed with such a sense of purpose?

And why would the Lightweaver choose her, of all dragons, to find out?

Since joining Moonwake, Yin has been very protective of her new family. She has continued her warrior's training, and within time, this led to her becoming the de facto combat trainer and Moonwake's equivalent to a guard captain, directing patrols of Moonwake's borders.

Ever since a nightmare came to life in the Hewn City and the world heard the whispers of the gods, it has been difficult to hold the same faith in the Lightweaver. Still, no matter what happens, Yin has resolved to hold strong to her beliefs, and have faith that the Lightweaver ultimately means well.
