IF SHE DISAPPEARS SOMETIMES, DO NOT BE ALARMED. SHE IS MERELY TESTING HER CAPABILITIES.
FomSUAn.png

I bought this little darling as an egg and wanted to scatter her until I got the perfect colours for a Gen 1 Wildclaw. To tell you all the truth, she's...very unconventionally pretty. A bit like the town of Night Vale from what I've heard! And if I'm honest with myself I'm not sure if I'd be happy spending time making her into some golden goddess or alabaster angel.

She's a 5ish off XXX, 1 off XYY. 1/15 Active with her colours (1/56 ever been). She also fits the aesthetic of my lair surprisingly well, as odd as she is. But, even though she is inspired by a reasonably popular fandom, she is NOT a fandragon. However, one day I'd like to sit down and start listening to it. I'm sure I'll really like it!

As for her lore I kinda meshed in some Cheshire Cat elements with what I've learnt about the podcast, with a little bit of SCP inspiration too.

Quote:
Whisking about in twists and turns,
Always returning yet never there.
If she is mad then they are, too—
Everyone is a little mad, even if normality is a stretch to yearn.

NightVale is, in a word, odd. She arrived at the Lair of Many References as an egg, but she didn’t hatch the breed she was supposed to. She also underwent several....colour changes before settling on her current scheme. Almost overnight, her genes started to appear. I like to fancy that she’s only partially draconian, because no dragon is powerful enough to undergo such rapid changes so quickly unaided. But she did hatch and she does LOOK the part so I could just be rambling.

NightVale is very quiet, silent in fact, and many in the Lair of Many References are cautious of her selective muteness. And quite rightly so, for she has a rather unnerving smile sometimes. Eridium has seen NightVale in her dreamscape many a time, though NightVale never acknowledges the Wildclaw...she instead interacts with the dreams the Wildclaw catches.

NightVale has a penchant for disappearing. Sometimes it's in the blink of an eye, other times it's a slow process; fading gradually out of existence before popping up somewhere else in the Lair. Her capabilities for this quasi-teleportation seem vast and her locations appear sporadic. Rumour has it that during these phasing events, the dragons around NightVale at the exact moment of disappearance forget she was ever there, believing her to have always been stood in the spot she reappears. The THING known only as Contagion seems confused by her presence, as if she, like It, does not belong in this place. Even the Lair's Mortician and Funeral Director, Sexton, is perturbed by her presence in his nightmares (and that Skydancer is rarely spooked by anything).

NightVale has taken to spending time with Ariadne and her lot, the latter finding her eerie but companionable. This, and perhaps Juniper’s insistence that she can’t be all bad, is why she is still able to stay here. Still, Eurydice is weary and even Maat pours over books to see if there aren’t laws governing...whatever she, Contagion and the Egg Snatcher are. NightVale, on the other hand, shows no inkling of her allegiance. There is speculation that there is more to NightVale than meets the eye...perhaps she is a conduit of an even greater power?

Recently she has brought home a glitchy counterpart. For the life of me I don’t know where she found him, but in between his ‘episodes’ he seems content to be in her presence. The two of them appear to share an understanding of one another. I’d say it was personal but without asking I couldn’t tell. Some creatures experience life differently after all.

"We have nothing to fear except ourselves. We are unholy, awful people. Fear ourselves with silence. Look down, Night Vale. Look down and forget what you've done."

Night Vale is a friendly desert community where the sun is hot, the moon is beautiful, and mysterious lights pass overhead while everyone pretends to sleep. It is located somewhere in the American southwest, surrounded by a vast empty desert, near Desert Bluffs.

Hiram McDaniels and Carlos both describe Night Vale as hard to find. Hiram's violet head claims to have searched for the town based on "whispers" and "rumors" and "vague directions." Carlos called Night Vale "a place that is difficult to leave, and difficult to enter." He also remarked, "I don't even remember how I got to Night Vale in the first place. I mean, where is Night Vale, even?". Cecil Palmer, however, says Night Vale is "perfectly located [...] between several vertices," which is why the town often receives visitors.

The only Night Vale grocery store mentioned is a Ralph's, which is the the name used for the Southern California locations of Kroger's. In The Registry of Middle School Crushes, Joshua trees are mentioned; they are native to the Mojave desert in southeastern California, southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and extreme southwestern Utah.

It seems to be relatively easy to become a citizen of Night Vale. When Route 800 is shut down, Night Vale Community Radio announces to non-citizens, "Congratulations! You now live in Night Vale!" Newcomers receive a New Citizen Welcome Packet and mandatory orange poncho from City Hall. Despite the town's welcoming nature, citizens seem to be sensitive to the presence of outsiders; Carlos is repeatedly described as such. Some visitors are regarded with suspicion, while others are not. Hiram McDaniels, who lived outside of Night Vale until he was thirty years old, seems to escape scrutiny, as do the dreaded Glow Cloud and you. It is not advisable for Night Vale natives to leave Night Vale. Doing so may lead to the strangeness of Night Vale "infecting" the native's new chosen home. The effects can be reversed if the native returns to Night Vale.

The citizens of Night Vale, the majority of whom are human, are very tolerant of all sorts of death, disaster, supernatural creatures and occurrences, and government intrusion. There are occasional exceptions, such as Steve Carlsberg, who gets very
concerned about government conspiracies and often attempts to call out the logical absurdities taking place in the town. If Cecil Palmer is to be believed, though, it's perfectly normal for the government to produce everything up to and including sandstorms that cause doppelgangers. Night Vale has a seemingly one-sided rivalry with the nearby town of Desert Bluffs.
