Cythemia could be considered a strange name to some, however considering that her mother's name means a blood infection, her name is fairly normal in her family. Cythemia's family resides in a fire clan, although their appearance and personality would be better suited for a plague clan. Cythemia was exposed to things young hatchlings don't typically see, such as dissections of their prey. The anatomy of the various fish she and her family consumed began to grow Cythemia's interest for surgery. After spending some time refining her skills, Cythemia set off on a journey to find a permanent clan to call her own.

It was this time during her travels that Cythemia really mastered her skills. She would often come across a small group of traveling dragons and stick around for a short time. More often than not, the group would be jumped by the leaders of the territory they were passing through. This resulted in serious injuries, ones that Cythemia delightfully tended to. With her trusty knife, she would carve away any infected tissue and muscle, often only giving the sorry soul a stick to bite on. Once the dragons would recover, she moved on to a different land.

Cythemia found herself thrust into a bloody battle by two rivaling clans. She didn't belong to either side, but she was more than happy to do field surgery for them. With her knife and a few blades, she meticulously sawed away the damaged muscle, and on rare occasions, limbs that were too far gone to save. What made most dragons look away or even pass out, Cythemia always had a grin behind her makeshift surgical mask.

Cythemia ventured out to Hyannis Clan by mistake; she had taken a wrong turn and wound up in territory that made most of her kind recoil with fear. She, however, never showed fear. But what fire dragon would be stupid enough to enter water territory? Cythemia half expected to be jumped by the clan leaders. However, she was pleasantly surprised to discover the two clan leaders were very welcoming and offered her a den to stay in. Cythemia gladly accepted their generous offer and began to set up her den to mirror a surgical room. Although the clan had healers, ones that used magic and not medicine, the family of healers didn't object to Cythemia's den decorations. That, or they were too scared to say anything.

One couldn't blame them for being a tad wary of this young dragon's choice in design. The steel-gray walls had been polished down to make them easier to clean. Cythemia had painstakingly dug out part of the west, north, and east walls to create tiny windows. Some would believe that this was to make the den more cheery, but it was a way for Cythemia to tell how long a surgery was taking. Below each of the windows were two shelves made out of rock. On the west shelves, surgical instruments and blades were housed. Located on the north shelves were jars of various sizes with organs of different species of fish and small animals. The east shelves held journals and books about small animal and dragon anatomy; these had a thin layer of dust resting over them. Cythemia almost never had to consult the books, being that she wrote most of them. In the center of the den lay a massive stone table; this is where Cythemia's version of "magic" happened. At night she'd use the table as a bed; she didn't like the soft moss beds the others slept on. She eventually added a moss bed, not for herself, but for someone special.

Cythemia began to find herself attracted to the grandson of the healers, a young Imperial named Palindrome. The two began to spend time with each other, even coming up with pet names: "Palin" and "Cyth". Cythemia began to show a more gentle side with Palindrome as she didn't want to scare him away like she did with most others. Palindrome didn't seem to mind Cythemia's passion. She would teach him anatomy, he would teach her about various healing spells that had been passed onto him by his grandparents and mother. They grew closer and eventually Palindrome asked Cythemia to be his mate. She happily accepted his offer, while his family wasn't too pleased about the news. With some time, they eventually tolerated their bond.

After the two became official mates, the pair had tried for a clutch of their own. Cythemia found herself unable to successfully lay a clutch. For the first time in her life, she finally felt what fear was; she feared she would lose Palin. Her fears were washed away with Palindrome's unwavering love and support. He didn't care if they couldn't raise a family together, he cherished her the way she was.
