Pearl

Pearl's Search lasted longer than that of most Guardians. She had already founded a clan and resigned herself to a hollow life when on one of her fishing forays, she found an injured octoflyer, and knew she had found her calling.

She had fought and killed octoflyers in the past, and this one was rightfully wary of dragons, but she was patient, and protected it from other predators, and offered it sustenance and small trinkets -- sometimes treasures, sometimes useless bits and pieces that had been flung into the sea, for it seemed to enjoy manipulating all sorts of objects, and fitting them together in new ways. It came to know her, and she thought it perhaps waved its tentacles in greeting as she came by each day.

One day, when it had attained full health again, it surprised her by offering her something it had devised out of scraps of copper: a golem, controlled by a gauntlet that would ensure it would stay close. And Pearl understood the message: so too would the octoflyer remain with her, although out of friendship rather than compulsion.

As matriarch of her clan, Pearl guides the other dragons with a stern yet fair hand. Although she bore several offspring, she considers herself too old to deal with the antics of hatchlings now and sees no particular need to expand the clan further. She trusts Sunset to handle most daily matters.
