Iapetos

Iapetos (ee-ah-peh-toes) is derived from from the Greek word for "to wound" or "to pierce".

Status: Messenger of Ópal Hylinn

Bio: Iapetos is the second eldest within the clan, though his shyness tends to rival his position. Born within the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Iapetos worked togetehr with Tiamat to found Ópal Hylinn, though neither of them accepted the role as leader. He acts as the lead messenger, delivering goods and services to other clans, making him one of the best flyers Ópal Hylinn has to offer. He is in charge of Net deliveries.

He chose to be the messenger of the clan because, despite his shyness and meekness, he does enjoy the company of other dragons and he enjoys getting to see new lands and see new dragons. And, even though he's too shy to truly make friends with other dragons, he prides himself in being open enough to approach other clans and present them with the message he carries, and then return to his own clan with news of how it was received. Even though he's shy, he thinks that simple little thing he does is a big jump for him, and he's really proud of the work he does. It's because of that that he's really happy with his position in the clan, and he doesn't mind being one of the quieter ones-- he has a job that he is happy doing, proud of, and is useful to the clan, so he's very grounded in that way.

He's also a rather content dragon. He's the kind of dragon that isn't so fond of new ideas (maybe some of the crazier new ideas that the hatchlings have), but even though he's meek he'd still (if hesitantly) offer to participate in them to please the other dragons (especially the hatchlings).

He is a bit of a drama queen, as Iapetos has a comfort zone that he really doesn't like stepping out of. He has a world and a way to do things and he doesn't like it when those are interrupted. It took him quite a few tries to find his mate, Darinka, making him a rather experienced father.

He loves Newts and Glass Minnows, and rather strongly despises bugs of any sort, not because he fear them, but simply because he finds them to be disgusting.
