Ardest is Clan Hoarfrost's matriarch, and rightfully so - she was the one who constructed the lair that everyone currently lives in, and has governed the clan since its small beginnings when it was just her and Peron. Ardest is, in general, a fair and kind leader and rarely resorts to any sort of violence - if it can be avoided. If it cannot, she will not hesitate to freeze her foes on the spot with her ice magic, and have a heavy hitter like Arwyn shatter them. She has also been considering learning swordplay recently, as it would give her another weapon against the recent Beastclan intruders.

She tends to be something of a social butterfly and is often seen giving friendly advice to those in the clan who need it. She is considered a mother figure by many in the clan, most often the group of Nocturnes who do not remember any previous family, having hatched by themselves in various flight territories across Sornieth.

Ardest's mate and co-leader is Levant. Originally, Peron was the one who ruled beside her, but after a few mishaps (read: bad leadership and the loss of lives), she demoted him to a hunter, which suited him just fine. After a trial period with Levant (i.e. dragon dating), Ardest decided that Levant was the best choice to be the clan's patriarch, and the two have led the clan ever since. They spend quite a bit of time fawning over each clutch of eggs that they have, as any truly good Skydancer parents would.

On top of her duties to her clan, Ardest is also the emissary to the Icewarden. She is the one who performs the ceremony to send the clan's dragons to their deity, as well as communes with him when possible. Of course, communing with the Icewarden is tricky at the best of times, as his temper does not match his element. She rather fondly remembers the time when he groused to other flights that his ears were, in fact, not cute, and they could not even begin to understand them, as they are the ears of a deity.
