xxxxxWaratah was an orphan raised in an unnamed clan in the Wyrmwound. Despite living there for the entirety of her childhood, she hated it. The clan strongly believed the Plague flight to be the superior flight, so any dragons who weren't Plagueborn, like herself, were often subject to harsh treatment. Waratah, a young Mirror at the time, soon grew uninterested in helping the non-Plagueborn. Instead, she opted to fling herself right at the cycle of life and death that her clan so strongly worshiped and left her birth clan with nothing but a journal and barely enough dried meat to last any dragon a week.

xxxxxHer final destination, she decided, would be the Emberglow Hearth--/if/ she could navigate the world without a map. She'd never left her birth clan to do anything as her old clan thought her to be too weak to do anything. She headed south, believing that's where she saw the Ashfall Waste on a map. A few weeks into her long journey, she was attacked by a Serthis clan only to be rescued by a Dunhoof Herd from the bordering Starwood Strand. Despite the Dunhoof's advice to rest for a few days, Waratah left in the night as soon as she could and continued on towards the Windswept Plateau.

xxxxxIt was in the Zephyr Steppes she met Icefur, who was confused and dehydrated. She took him under her wing and continued to head for the Ashfall Waste. It wasn't long before the two had bonded in the volcanic plains and settled on a small plot of land between the Emberglow Hearth and the Great Furnace. Waratah continued to rule over the Pagfenx Nongoshe for many decades, growing old along with the clan. Despite her insisting that the Plagueborn were plotting against the citadel long ago, she'd tossed those thoughts aside and had become more open-minded and treated other dragons fairly during her reign.
