Orphaned before he’d even hatched, Zaire’s family had been killed by Beastclan, and he was forced to survive alone. Living in the Plague lands was hard and he was often drifting and hungry. He thought it was the end when he wandered into Death Valley, but as luck would have it, a young female Mirror found him… and tried to give him half of a carcass. After some embarrassment, Eden figured out he could only eat plants and nursed him back to health and over time the two became close and eventually mates, deciding to wander the Valley together. Zaire is soft-spoken, but authoritative Vegetarian that constantly offers healthy greens to his mate to have alongside her meaty meals, mostly just to match her stubbornness with his own more playful version, but despite their differences, with their experience and resources, they thrive. As their Clan grew, picking up misfits and stragglers on the way, they eventually took on the roles of Leaders keeping their Clan safe and happy.

During their travels they picked up a strange dragon calling herself "Gomorrah" who joined their Clan briefly as a sort of 'Casino Master' for a time, encouraging other Clans they met on the way to lose their money in games of chance. Eden didn't care so much, but, Zaire was annoyed by the practice. Luckily, their worries about the strange dragoness were soon relieved after they made camp in the ruins of an old temple. The Clan felt they were being watched and the place felt haunted. In the morning, Gomorrah said farewell to Zaire and his Clan, stating she'd make the ruins her home and that they'd be welcome to stay again anytime. Eden and Zaire agreed to never take her up on the offer. Not long after, they were greeted by their long lost granddaughter Opulence and a small crew of her friends. They warned Eden and Zaire to stay clear of the temple ruins as there were in fact evil spirits there that she and her new companions were somehow 'specially made' to counter. Eden and Zaire didn't quite understand, but they chose to listen to her and moved their Clan out further into the wastes.
